Since when have Aus been considered a "great team" ? They have paper thin depth, they had to pluck JOC back from the wilderness to fill their most important position FFS! Right now they are a very well coached team playing well above the sum of their parts, the exact opposite to us.
Yeah, exactly. It's the same 'meh' team that they've had for about the last how many years now.

I would say the difference is their ceiling is higher under Schmidt. In the last year they've beaten England at Twickenham, Boks at Ellis Park and were very competitive in the Lions series.

If winning by 9 points is "squeaking past" then we should have handed at least one RWC cup back .

You don't think that refs call on our tryline where we concede a try but not a yellow was influential? Leaving a big decision in the refs hands at the back end of the game is squeaking to me.
Letting them back in after being up 20 3 was super frustrating too

We have the "cool" teacher in charge of the class, attempting to keep his class happy with positivity and vision. Problem with all cool teachers, they don't really know the material. As the exam approaches, some of the more astute students start to realize they are not adequately prepared. The murmurs of discontent start. Suddenly way cool teacher isn't so way cool anymore. He's out of his depth and the students know it. Needless to say, the students do poorly in the exam.

I don't want Sititi as captain. Looks to be Taine Randle Mark 2. Mature and nice. Does not command his place in the side.
The only player with that hard core competitive edge that I can see is Roigard. Not dunderhead body falling apart Scooter or aw gee shucks Pacifika and Christian legend Ardie.
Codie Taylor as interim captain and Roigard as vice, captaining when Taylor leaves the field. Of course all of this complete fantasy and will never happen
-
@antipodean Shows how important Holland is, not sure exactly how many of those 15 he took but 15-0 is one reason why we were competitive as opposed to SA where we could not win a lineout to save ourselves.

@No-Quarter I don’t think any one is calling Oz a great team. They are good though and plenty were singing Schmidt’s praises not that long ago.
They’ve lost two 1st 5s to injury and that is why JOC is starting. Plus JOC showed good impact form in super rugby, can’t ask for more than that.
We had to play well (in patches) to beat them, as did the Boks and Argies.

I think the big take away from the game should be copying how Australia make so many metres through the close channels and the forwards.
Yes. This has annoyed for a while. Vaai, Williams, Sami, Sititi, Savea , Roigard are all good runners.
Instead we get 10 shovelling.
Or a dink. -

I've noticed the anti-Roigard captain brigade have gone a bit quiet.
Between now and WC 2027 Taylor captain, Roigard vice captain. Sorted. -

Admittedly, the close in game is a lot more viable now Roigard is back from injury.

Its always been a great option in order to lay the foundation for our wide game

@voodoo I'm pleased to see more people seeing what I've been seeing. I'm firmly of the belief if he sat on the pine, half our problems would be resolved.
Agreed
Who is starting? Papalii, Lakai? -

The reffing was random as fuck, and to be honest I reckon he fucked the aussies pretty badly.
I watched the game with a couple of Aussies and on many occasions we were agreeing with them that a decision was a bit rough. Felt strange not to be arguing with them.
But, we've been fucked over by French ref's enough in the past that I don't really mind a square up.
Watching the game with a kiwi mate I pointed out the inconsistency at ruck time within a couple of minutes of each other.
He said "mate don't have sour grapes" so I muttered "Wayne Barnes was right in 2007" and that stopped the conversation

That is a good point but we led all the way.
And I thought Wilson* was lucky not to get a yellow card, he received at least two no arms tackle warnings and he is the captain, he should know that stuff and lead by example.*I'm not saying he performed badly at all, but he was lucky.
So my point is, swings and roundabouts. I didn't hear/ understand the yellow card at the end, and there were plenty of headscratching ref moments both ways.

is there one on here? I thought his fans (we fans) were on a very popular bandwagon since the RWC!

Who is starting? Papalii, Lakai? Our 8 needs to be highly skilled, a lineout option and a physical presence. Sititi is not in the form demonstrated on the EOYT in 2024.
I'd be willing to look at Parker at 8 (they're never going to pick Sotutu), with Finau or Vaa'i (even Ah Kuoi) at 6 and Papali'i at 7 as a Cane type player.
No more midgets and no more people avoiding putting a shoulder into rucks.
