That first Australian try really came from a classic de Groot straight to the deck carry. Also, what happened to Vaa'i's accuracy over the last two games?

well he had a knee injury. Not sure for how long. He's had a history of knee troubles.

It's been mooted it would be beneficial if Roigard took more of a leadership role.
The point is the current leadership isn't really working, too passive and Razor needs to recognise that.
SB is a great player but on field leadership is lacking particularly closing out tight games.

On a different note kudos to Razor introducing Carter on the wing , trying Vaai at 6, Proctor 13 and giving Holland a run. We are developing.
Sticking steadfastly with BB at 10 and not giving others much of a run hasn't been a progressive move though.

    fair enough.

Anyone got Holland's stats for the game? Seemed to be used as a carrier a lot more effectively in the first quarter.

    9 carries, 12 metres made
    13 passes
    16 tackles

Sititi is not in the form demonstrated on the EOYT in 2024.

His defence and ruck work are really poor this year.

On form there's no way he should be in the 23. This isn't a Codie Taylor issue where they're building him back into being a certainty based on years of demonstrated competency.

His form is so bad he can't cover for Ardie's glaring gaps.

Agree his form has been poor but we're also setting him up to fail pairing him with Ardie at 7. He'd look a lot better if he had Dalton there instead.

That said, Sotutu is by far the best 8 in the country and ticks all the "Read" boxes - size, power, height, ball playing ability. Fucking NUTS that he isn't in the squad.

In my opinion, Tosi should be on the bench as he is an effective ball carrier, a bit like PT, big and abrasive. Lomax has been underwhelming lately so I'd start Newell who is the best scrummager. When the forwards provide front foot ball and when DMac is at first five, the rest of the backline isn't static.

So, I went back and had a look at some of the whingable moments from an Aussie perspective.

In no particular order, and not comprehensive.

Firstly, because easiest, Harty Potter's YC.

Dude enters correctly but his left hand is clearly on the ground before he sweeps it back with his right. Clear penalty, and if, as has been said (didn't check myself) Aus were under warning, and ABs hot on attack, clearly YC.

Earlier, and having read some Pommie dude's report that the two penalties awarded and kicked over by DMac were suspect I looked at those.

First of them, Hooper didn't release. Legit penalty.

Second, McReight looked ok from the wide screen view. Didn't get a close up. Probably worth a whinge, hard done by, but not yet evidence of a deliberate plot.

Bit of a whinge about a Tupou Vaa'i steal just a little earlier, which looked 100% legit, comparing to this one, and I think they have a point.

Then the spear tackle where JOC could have doid. As mentioned, i don't believe the following law was transgressed:

A player must not lift an opponent off the ground and drop or drive that player so that their head and/or upper body make contact with the ground.

Nearly transgressed and some whinging could be allowed, but strictly in accordance with above quoted law 9.18, ok for me.

In between the above the Stan comms got all pissy about a collapsed maul ... "but he just said everything was OK....", but that was before you collapsed the maul you flogs...

Didn't review any other pens, either for or against.

As I said, not a comprehensive review, but amusing to see how they created their own victimhood narrative as I watched the above.

One would hope they remain professional and leave the whinging to us fans.

So of 6 incidents i looked at above, one (ok, one and a half) is questionable.

But the whole world is erupting.

Kind of a good thing for Aussie Rugby that it isn't just a loss, but a loss due a conspiracy that's gets it into the news.

Looks like that is the gameplan, no? Reduce risk of YCs and RCs?

    Roigard is a killer.

    He wants it.
You can see him looking for the try line as soon as we are in the 22.

A hungus but in a positive way.

He isn’t shy. Always wants the ball in his hands.

    He’s not hiding out there.

@booboo McReight was definitely off feet before grabbing at the ball and regaining his feet.

Probably because a lot of people secretly think Roigard should be Head Coach as well.

Roigard is entering "early 2000s Dan Vettori" Territory already.

Does he drive the team bus yet ?

The difference for Carter is he is hungry and looking to prove a point because he has a foot in the door.

Some of the other players can just coast, lose games, and with zero repercussions.
