Black Caps v Australia T20 Series

It's probably mostly just a talent thing, but sometimes it feels like we're out of date on how to play T20. Watching the Jamieson over, Head swung wildly at everything. A couple of terrible looking misses, 3 fours and a 2. Result: 14 runs. We seem content to work the ball around and only target a couple of boundaries in each over. When your 2-3 swings are hits, that's great as you get 15-20 runs off the over. When you miss 2 or 3 you only get 8.

One of the coldest days I can recall at a cricket match...
It was 10 degrees at the Basin one day I was there vs Bangladesh some years back.
Fairly sure they threw the game deliberately early so they could get back home sooner.
Back on topic. Absolute hiding here. Australia never troubled.

That was an icy wind last night (observed from my lounge, I'm too much of a wimp to attend). Zampa looked absolutely frozen when he came onto bowl. Thought after his first delivery was a pie that his fingers were too cold but he bowled well after that.

Why the hell are we playing cricket in early October?

Yeah, you could clearly see a mist blowing across the field on TV.

Was from the big salt pile next door, a reflection of the strength/misery of the wind...

A good chance of having minimal or no play tonight at the cricket. Forecast is for rain from mid-afternoon.
man that's unlucky in (checks notes) mid spring.

Gutted for one of the kids in our Juniors, who is due to be the Coin Toss kid tonight.
But very much mid winter rugby weather at the mo...

It's OK I'm really looking forward to all the cricket we will get in January and February when everyone is on holiday and the weather is at it's best. Oh wait.

We'll be ok. We'll only need a total of about five sunny days out of 15 to beat the Windies 3-0 in the test series.

Fucking nuts isnt it, we still have 10 x T20I's and 6 x ODI's to play before the end of November.
We do get spoiled with an actual test series in SUMMER, well the start of summer when its the shittest - December
Then like you said, nothing at fucking all in January and Feb. The actual peak time for a kiwi summer
before its ..checks notes...more T20i's vs South Africa in March. -

unfortunately, economics are. We're a minnow. It sucks, but it's reality.
What I don't understand is why NZC aren't just resetting around promoting the domestic game and playing it on TV, promoting it hard. Or the White Ferns - hell, anything to put top level cricket on the goggle box

Looks like they'll start the game soon, 18 overs each, we are bowling
