I would beg to disagree - DMac is a very, very average intl 10 who is easily shut down. BB (field kicking aside) is a better option still, though it pains me to say it.

I don't know why our MF looked better than it has all season. But I'd like to see if DMac was part of the answer to that question

Not having a go at Proctor but QT asked questions of the Wallabies.

The five eighths passed to him more in first 20 than they did to Proctor in whole 80!

Impossible. DMac was complete crap tonight, we were told (I wasn't at all impressed with most of his kicking TBF).

I must be odd one out. Scott Barrett is still one of my first choice forwards. Love the way he carries, hits hard in tackles and rucks. Good that we have 4 locks now that are playing well but he is not going to be dropped anytime soon.

He puts the shoulder in and always draws two opponents. Lacked a little accuracy at least 3 rucks I recall where he could’ve been better.

Don't think there's many on here suggesting dropping him. He's a fine player. Hasn't been in top form during captaincy though.

From my armchair view it just appears that QT runs a better angle, from deeper and with a bit of pace.

QT makes you earn your crust tackling him.

I'd love to see the tackle stats

    Newell: 19
    Scott Barrett: 15
    Savea: 15 (7 in the last 20)
    Holland and Lakai: 14
    Parker: 12
    Barrett: 11

You get 50% of RD’s defensive effectiveness just playing him for 20!

I have no doubt at all that most of them were second man entries as well

Not to labour the point but it really is pointless to pick Love just to give him 8 mins on the wing.

I get that Razor may not want to throw him into the deep end but if you put a player on the bench and just give him a few minutes out of position it's clear you don't rate him. May as well just pick a winger in that case because it's clear you don't think he has what it takes.

Dyer's first try in pro rugby. Cool.

That is impressive since has wasn’t playing.

    Yeah, sorry. Getting Georges muddled.

    Fixed in original post.

If D Mac nailed his kicks it would have been a good score line.

    6 points left out there.

Will forgive the first missed penalty.

Penalties alter the course of the match. Never count them unless they're after the siren

Tosi is a must selection on the bench. He constantly made the hard yards. For me, Lomax starts or is not on the team sheet. Having ST, Bower, Tosi, PT and Sititi, all powerful carriers, was the main reason why the All Blacks were dominant during the last quarter. At this level, rugby is a big men game.

Ahhh but you understand that if you kick the penalty that play restarts from halfway? And there is no saying what could have happened at that point in terms of "leaving points out there".

The opposition could recover the restart and score down the other end. Yes they could do the same from the 22m restart but it isn't the same course of action.

A conversion miss is definitely more likely to be "points left out there" because it doesn't alter what happens next.

Solid win in the end. Aussie didn’t live up to the hype second half though.

Reiko Ioane was very solid defensively coming on at centre. Aussie backline never looked threatening out wide once he came on.

Well finished but that scoreline flatters you

Considering we left 9 points on the field with horrible kicking, not really.

20 mins against 14 men and they butchered 10 pts

    Congratulations on the moral victory.

    Pick your dummy up

Deserved win but scoreline flattered you

Personally don't think it did. Pretty fair reflection overall.

We were well and truly flattered at the break. Shouldn't have been that far in front. But at the end a margin of 2 x converted tries felt about right.
