I've seen the Beekeeper twice now. I question my life choices and the cost of my liquor cabinet.
"The film follows a retired government assassin who sets out for revenge after his kind-hearted landlady falls victim to a phishing scam"
Yeah I think I'd be driven to drink too. Sounds like utter shite.
The choreography is mostly good, the characters have the depth of wet cardboard but it's the laboured analogies to bee colonies that really get stuck in the craw.

Who'd be a retired government assassin? Never get a days rest, FFS.

The Beekeeper was genuinely one of the worst films i have ever seen.
this was my earlier review
The Beekeeper.
Jason statham playing Jason Statham, this time taking down cyber criminals.
This movie is fuuuucking terrible.
It was either written by AI, or some boomer who is scared of computers. In fact, the cyber criminals looked like updated versions of thr guys from Hackers.
Throw in for some reason a bunch of TMNT villains for additional ridiculousness
It's fucking awful. Do not fucking watch this movie. -

Jason statham playing Jason Statham
pretty much sums up most of his movies, particularly the ones from the last 5-10 years.

Jason Statham makes Gerard Butler look like Laurence Olivier

@MN5 that's a stretch.
Plenty of actors once they have established themselves dial it in.
Actually possibly fair. Statham wasn't an invincible action hero in the first two Guy Richie flicks, more of a cockney smartarse.

Yeah. I put Statham in light entertainment mode. If I don't want to think I'll watch one of his films, I know they're all the same, but I generally enjoy them.
In all honesty, and I know this might offend some fans of the Nobody films, but the sequel could easily be a Statham film and the original was overrated (which is not to say I didn't like them).

He also "acted" in that heist film The Bank Job.

@Nepia the 2nd Nobody film was just that, larger than life action film, shooting, splosions, unrealistic survivals etc...it is what it is.
Plenty of films that cop it in here are easy to watch as they are not pretending to be anything other than what they are.

He was also a comic actor in 'Spy.' He was also happy to insult Dwayne Johnson in those car-racing
ripoffs/spinoffs.
Still moves like a genuine martial arts guy. Must just have a very agreeable or in debt to the mob agent... -

I found that about the first one, even when people were saying it was gritty and realistic. The final scene of the first one would have fit completely in the second.

The Statham Youtube highlight reels are great. He's the Ardie Savea of Hollywood.

@Nepia I thought the 1st was a tad more 'serious' whereas the 2nd seemed to up the ante and a bit more humour, both in the sit down, switch brain off and enjoy the ride type movies, like most of the John Wicks.

I would never have described Nobody as gritty/realistic.
I think I've written once before - upon a rewatch, if anything I found it to be a fun tongue-in-cheek over-the-top homage to 1980s movies. The end-scene = grown-up Home Alone.
I had fears that the sequel would be a straight-up cash-in on what movie execs think made the original successful, but would inevitably focus on the wrong things. It sounds like they at least kept the fun. Low expectations for any third installment. -

That is the best description for the final scene.

I have low expectations for the third instalments, but I'll still go and see it.

Okay - just watched Nobody 2
- Decent fun
 - As suspected, movie execs sometimes missed the point of what made the first one successful, but not always. 50% hit-rate is to be expected, I guess.
 - I'm afraid that if there are further sequels - they will all contain a scene of shit-tonnes of cash/product being burned up; and an end-scene of "the A-Team fortifying a location with booby traps and shit". The first was kinda fun once. The second - a pretty boring trope, but... : shrug : - it's an easy device.
 - I was curious as to whether they would pay attention to a pretty obvious detail... 8x SUVs full of bad guys (and gals).
 -
- But nope - I counted 50 bad guy/gal deaths. Pretty sure none of those SUVs were actually minivans.

 - I knew that I should know who was acting the Big-Bad, but couldn't remember, and didn't recognise her. Took until the end-credits to realise.
 - BTW - Who the fuck is he working for, that decided it would be a good idea to fund the Russian Mafia rebuilding? Any "private enterprise" - surely they're effectively providing (re-)start-up for a competitor? Government-Agency - surely not.
 - Sorry - don't really give a shit, as long as there were silly fistfights, even sillier gunfights, and even sillier knife/machete/katana fights.

4 plush badgers out of 5 duck boats.
BTW - did anybody else think "Chekhov's Lamborghini"? And then... nope.
