Current watching list all on Apple

    Slow Horses
Just keeps getting better and better

I have just watched the last episode of season three. Although I have enjoyed the series so far, I found this episode disappointing. I can't get spoilers to work so I will just say the action scenes seemed well out of place and unbelievable.

I stuck with Monster, the Ed Gein story.

Is an interesting watch., however, it isnt a binge watch kind of series given some of the macabre content, so in between I have been doing a bit of reading on Gein, and would appear the writers have taken a decent chunk of artistic licence with stuff that is not true or was never proven.

The last episode in particular seemed to be padded out with scenes inside Geins head simply to pad the episode out.

He supposedly inspired numerous serial killers as well, which highlights how fucked up the world is.

Charlie Hunnan put in a pretty good performance as Gein, particularly how they seemed to portray him that is almost at odds with how idolised he supposedly was.

how they have portrayed him, in the end you I did feel some sympathy for how fucked up his relationship with his mother was.

They showed him as a necrophilliac, yet he denied this, in the series he killed many more than was ever proven and they show him as having a part in gettign Ted Bundy arrested, although this was in the final episode with alot of stuff played out in his head, it isnt clear if this was alleged to have happened or what might have happened in his head

    Ed Gein

Havent seen it yet but yeah hes been the 'inspiration' for several fictional killers.
Norman Bates (Psycho), Leather face (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), Buffalo Bill (Silence of the Lambs) and alot more.

Sounded like a lovely guy really.

The performance as Gein was pretty extraordinary but as I said earlier I'm not sure I'll even start on episode three.

you're correct about the artistic licence, for starters I'm fairly sure he didn't bash his brother on the head before they found his body ( that part was true )

Sounds like the fern meme thread.

It's also not proven if Gein actually was a serial killer either.

I think this guys life would be better on screen.....

@MN5 yeah isnt the 'club membership' 3 victims?

yeah on his brother, it was all speculation, as he supposedly had bruising, but no autopsy.

Well yeah ( no spoiler needed ) I'm fairly sure he was actually "only" convicted of two murders ( loads of other post mortem fucked up shit though )

Rookie numbers compared to Darmer and Bundy.

A lot of unsolved deaths were attributed to him so he probably committed more although they weren't proven.

    Slow Horses - S05E01
A couple of seasons ago they showed the door to my old apartment in the background
Today - several solid shots of the window of same apartment, and then the Rod-ster dances around the outside of me old local - The Shakespeare.
I'm... like... it's like I'm on the telly, myself, innit?
But yeah - impressive that they continue to actually film stuff in the actual locations used in the books.

I've just started Dark Hearts (BBC player in UK). It's a French Special Forces story set in Iraq. Only seen one episode so far but even with the subtitles it seems worthwhile persevering with.

3 what the fuck are they saying out of 4 tense action scenes.

Gary Oldman is the only thing holding that series together now. He's great though.

I thought he was good last season when used sporadically, but I find him increasingly annoying now that they've increased his screen time.

Up until then, there had only been 4 action scenes.

Caveat: I may have made that up to mask my idiocy.

    The Responder S02

    • not a fun watch
    • but rather good
    • some good acting
    • dubious logic in decision making by characters at times, but usually easily explained away by circumstances
    • a show that I typically avoided when wanting an easy escape from reality (99% of time) - but when I managed to commit to something more than popcorn-TV... Worth it

    The Paper

The US Office was pretty rubbish compared to the UK version. What is it about Americans not being able to do subtlety like the Brit’s ?

( I still think the best US Comedies compare favourably with the best British Comedies but not this style of comedy if that makes sense )

This is a spinoff of the US office and is fucken unfunny and complete crap compared to that.

I lasted about 15 minutes. Utter shit. Avoid at all costs.
