BTW, anyone else disappointed in Season 3 of Sons of Anarchy? Still watching, but could they drag out the Ireland/baby plotline anymore? The show is much more enjoyable when they are in Charming, and there are many story lines there that they can focus on.
<br />
<br />
Yeah it's gotten a bit dull and ridiculous. Who gives a fuck about Ireland (other than the writer or producer who has a huge hardon for belfast). Reminds me of the decline of The Shield a bit (I gave up after 3 seasons).

Just watched the 2nd, looking like a very quality show, genuinely scary without too much over the top cheesyness. Roll on episode 3!

Torrented episodes 1 and 2 - and just watched them today - outstanding start. Really like the characters that are being set up - the main lead reminds me of Jesse - from the comic "Preacher"<br />
<br />
Frank Darabont and Gale Ann Hurd both producing - so it's bound to be a good story. Rock on Episode 3

Just saw the 2nd episode and loved it. The tension is great. I've never read the graphic novels so have no idea who lives/dies.<br />
<br />
Looks like the 1st season is only going to be 6 episodes. It has been given the green light for a 2nd season of 12 episodes.

I've been watching the event for a few weeks now. Dialogue and script are definitely cheesy but I've found it mildly addictive. It's a bit like Lost in that it tells the story from the perspective of different characters and has lots of flashbacks. I also imagine the writers have no idea what the conclusion to the story should be and will just leave everything open in the hope they get picked up for a second season - at which point I will give up on the show.

Don't get too attached, tnnounced recently that The Event is going on a three month hiatus, and then will be "relaunched". Based on past history, it is toast. It's ratings are already crap, and whenever a serialized show like this takes a break, it loses even more viewers (see Flash Forward last year for example). NBC will finish the first season cause they have nothing else to put in it's place, but it is one and done.

A month later since my last post. Sons of Anarchy this year is still lame, and Boardwalk Empire, The Walking Dead, and Terriers are still the only new shows I think are worth watching. Terriers is actually one of my three favorite shows on at the moment, along with the final season of Friday Night Lights, and the absolutely brilliant Community.

Agree on Terriers, it is class. Also on FNL and Community - which just gets battier and battier.<br />
<br />
Boardwalk Empire I pretty much put on my watch when I got time list as it was ok but not gripping. SOA is pretty crap, but is still watchable in comparison with many shows.<br />
<br />
In a turnabout How I Met Your Mother has shown remarkable improvement, I've been watching out of habit and because I enjoyed the first 3 seasons so much, but it has actually started being funny-ish again.<br />
<br />
RC - it says a week since your last post on my thread. Let me know if there are any other new season shows worth watching - especially comedies, please.

It's a detective show, it's described as neo noir on wikipedia. It has two private detectives, one an ex cop the other an ex thief. Each episode has a mix of standalone and toward the season arc - it combines the best procedurals with the best arc shows.<br />
<br />
I haven't been able to get into Breaking Bad after watching the first two episodes. I'm hoping if I leave it I will come round like I did with BSG and The West Wing.

I am actually not the best guy for this, cause I am "too cool" for mainstream comedies. I generally loathe formulaic, multi camera, laugh track ones such as Two and Half Men. The new ones this year that are most successful viewer wise and buzz wise are Mike and Molly (Chuck Lorre show who makes BBT, and TAHM), Shit my Dad Says (see twitter/book), and Raising Hope (Greg Garcia show, who made My Name is Earl). Of those, I checked out Raising Hope, and left after one episode. To give you an idea of my taste, I think Arrested Development was unadulterated genius, Better off Ted almost as good, and Community and Park and Recreation (2nd season reboot) are the best comedies on TV at the moment. I also think 30 Rock is on the down swing for the last year or so, and the Office is a shell of it's former self and pretty meh.<br />
<br />
TR. Terriers name, and happy theme music along with the way Fx marketed it here made you think you were going to be watching a peppy buddy detective show type weekly procedural. Instead it is so much more, with a dark season long arc and broken characters just trying to make it and reconstruct their lives. I have been a Donal Logue fan since the Tao of Steve a decade ago, and he really has a chance to shine here. It is very much worth a watch and only a 13 episode commitment.

Yeah, Sons is shit this year. It cannot operate as a heavy handed, "tragic", drama. This week's episode was better though.<br />
<br />
Boardwalk Empire could be good, but it's so unfocussed. Rubicon was really good (from ep 3 on) but has been cancelled. Terriers is very good, but it may be cancelled too.<br />
<br />
Ugly Americans is worth a look humour wise.

Sad to hear that SOA has drifted off the good list. <br />
<br />
I'm not one to download shows so am only watching it as it is being shown here on TV3. So far I really like it. I like the premise of the group walking a line between good and bad (by their own definitions) and the ideals of the two main characters pulling around this line.<br />
<br />
I can only guess that the writers ran out of ideas down that avenue.
