I picked Dmac as the game changed when he came on.... other factors in that happening granted but ball distribution improved greatly.
If only he was allowed to start ahead of BB

Leicester, EDG and Clarke. Was very tempted to pick DMac, he was influential

Clarke, Tupaea and De Groot the best of the starters. The bench were all pretty strong.

That last sentence is a refreshing change!

The thing I love about Mackenzie is in any type of broken field situation where it's on he penetrates into the space the defence offers like no other. When he puts his foot on the gas he is gone over that first 10 metres.

A combination of his acceleration and his short stature and he cuts right into the defence, draws his defender and will always find a pass for his support.

He is light years ahead of Beauden in that regard.

Although I'm seeing the positives and saying as much in the match thread I'm having difficulty picking 3.

CC my clear standout. But I hate having to pick bench players as a rule, but 2 and 3 for me were LF and Wally.

That seems strange booboo given circumstances sometimes means a bench player can play 75 minutes like Lord or in Fainga’anuku’s case 65 minutes.

Two standouts for me. Everyone else in the rocks and diamonds bucket or did some good things for short periods.

Fainga’anuku - carried well, but created space for outsides. He made 9 passes at that centre position which shows more involvement than we have seen. One turnover lost.

Clarke - big carrying and tough as nails. Beat his defender regularly and it was nice seeing him and the midfield link well. Only black mark was the three turnovers lost.

Probably not expressed well. I'll rephrase as a preference to pick a player who has played the majority of the game. That's usually a starter.

Thought Taylor got through a lot of work on defence and at the ruck.

Think we are overlooking Tupea somewhat. Won 2 penalties at the breakdown, pretty crucial. Was never a fan but he's kicked on really well.

@ExiledHalfback Yeah, his breakdown work was really good. Much better than any of the loose forwards. Got a vote from me.

I think he's probably our best player, but I didn't vote for him on this occasion because of the lineout woes.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. He showed glimpses at Super level but was hardly blown away by what I saw of him in his first ABs stint befre that injury he got, but now he looks every bit a test player.

Yup fair shout, hence why I was surprised that Holland got MOTM. Everyone involved is at faultfor the lineout woes imo.

You have to consider everyone is at fault for missed targets etc, because it's very hard to know who is really at fault. But there were multiple not-straights, and that is only one guy's fault. Unless I guess it is windy as all fuck and someone keeps calling the back, but that wasn't the case.

Yeah, definitely seems to have a lot more intensity and passion, puts fucking everything into it. Bizarrely, the adversity he faced has probably made him into an AB star when he was looking more like a bit part Crotty type.
