I guess you have to trust the AR's who were standing right there, and I would expect a few ABs woulda been watching it too.

Musta been tough conditions out there for kicking though....

@Baron-Silas-Greenback or do away with conversions altogether, that would actually suit us with the way BB has been kicking anyway!

Now it seems as though we know why Cheika was bringing up the bugging again after no one mentioning it after 1.5 months. The NSW police - who no doubt are in the pocket of All Black management - appear to closing in on the culprit and questioned Wallabies management at ARU headquarters over the past week.

See the thing is we've now had 15 pages of you guys frothing about Aussie 'whingeing'. Admit it - you fucking LOVE IT.

While you may complain, and cry out 'look at these losers' and turn the outrage meter up to 11, it warms the cockles of your dark Kiwi souls.

Here is a little bit of reality, though. Other than the Kafer article, the response here in the media is largely... silence. It's the Tuesday after the game, and I think in your heads our papers are full of ranting and raving from pundits about Owens costing us the match. But it isn't.

The SMH today had two rugby articles. One about the NH tour, and one (shock!) from NZ about Cheika losing the plot, and how he needs to reign it in. The News press had one article about Cheika's tactics which was more positive, but did include the phrase "The Wallabies don’t have the same class and depth as the All Blacks so they need fire and brimstone, and importantly, confidence."

Fortunately (or unfortunately) there just isn't the outrage factor.

Put it this way, I don't think we will be posting an interview with Nigel Owens in 9 years time on these boards, with people still disecting the decisions he made in that game...

@barbarian I'm not surprised about the lack of coverage. Australia has a knack of moving on from losses very quickly, something NZ could do with at times

@barbarian TBF, the fact there was the interview with him, that specifically mentioned it, are you surprised it was posted?

If in 8 years someone did interview Owens and he specifically mentions this call, I expect some in Aus would take notice of it.

@barbarian it was funny listening to Melbourne sports radio this morning (SEN) and they have this "who's on the struggle bus this week" segment. They had Michael Cheika. They were ferrying stuck into his comments and didn't buy into the ABs are responsible for the clown cartoon. Yes it's a predominantly AFL radio station, but the morning guys know their sport beyond AFL and aren't like NRL folks that want to talk any other sport down to boost their one.

And I certainly agree with them.

@NTA in Oz for rugby I'd agree anything that generates interest is good. I remember John O'Neills antics, of course the wobs were better onfield in those days

I don't buy this "all publicity is good publicity" nonsense. I find it pretty ridiculous that the Aus coach being reported on in the press for acting like a petulant child can be construed as a good thing. Reckon that'll get more kids to sign up, get more people to buy Wallaby kit?

It shows the depths to which the game has fallen in Aus that this can somehow be viewed as a positive.

Oh yeah and if you want to criticise about sporting whines, try getting over bodyline first.

I think people are far more likely to tune in if there is genuine bad blood between the two sides, for sure.

Where here Cheika can be seen as a 'petulant child', in some quarters in Aus he is seen as finally throwing a punch back after years of being belted by NZ. Sure he went off the deep end a bit, but I think people would rather that than a meek 'they are the Champions' surrender.

And we'll get over Bodyline when you get over Underarm.

Throwing a punch back? C'mon, that's weak. Throwing a punch back is winning on the field not having a cry about a newspaper article. Its not about kowtowing to the abs it's about acting like a grown up. Surely even you see the difference.

You've got 50 years on us with bodyline plus a mini-series. Nice try though.

I'm not saying I agree with it, but that's how it has been perceived in some quarters. I think he went a bit too far, sure.
