    @MN5 yeah

critics refer to it as an "all star" cast too.

Idris Elba is a big name ( and even he isn't really genuine A list like some others ). The rest are the sort of "vaguely know them from such and such" type faces.

This movie is all hype and zero substance.

@MN5 havent watched it, but a colleague was discussing it, and was annoyed about the ending

with the director leaving it open for viewers to decide how they thought would end....fucking cop out!

    Think I'll pass.

This review couldn't be more accurate

( spoilers if you haven't seen it obviously 😉 )

Well, I really liked it. I like those types of talky movies and I thought the switching focus was a good way to tell the story. The only storyline I felt completely out of place was:

The FEMA worker, but I guess they were using her to show the nuclear bunker at the end.

    On the ending:

I kind of guessed that would be the ending as it progressed, so it didn't jar as much with me as I assume it does with others.

I'd even add all the points that @MN5 knocked off and in the context of it including Rebecca Ferguson, put it up to 4 out 5.

    So the.......

same story three times ? if watching people on a zoom call from different perspectives with absolutely no clear ending floats your boat then yeah, the movie was amazing 😉

I thought it was complete shit, interested in the views of others !

Each to their own, I think a lot of the music you like is shit, and that's before we get into the memes. 😉

I didnt mind the different angles but the ending for me was awful, felt like they ran out of chat gpt credits and just finished

@bayimports Idris Elba is a dog shit actor who belongs on TV, but that was one of the worst performances I have seen. Awful writing too.

I think he was easily the best thing about this movie. He single handedly took it from a 1 out of 5 to 1.5 out of 5 with his presence alone.

Yeah the writing, bad acting from others and CONSTANT fucken acronyms did my head in.

I liked this movie. Both leads (Colman and Cumberbund are really good. The supporting actors not quite, whether that's a writing issue or their portrayal really doesn't matter - not a big detraction.

Well worth the watch of a dark comedy - just don't ruin it by watching the trailer.

Disclaimer: I haven't seen the movie in question.

But I like movies that don't infantilise the audience. Most people who know their subject matter use initialisms, acronyms and abbreviations.

    I think the ending:

Would have pissed some portion of people off no matter what it was. This has. But a NK did it but it wasn't armed would. But a NK did it and it was armed. And then that's before getting into all the permutations for response that would have pissed off people too.

In saying all that I can understand why people don't like the ending, I've definitely disliked similar style endings in the past. This occasion it worked for me.

This movie is going to be -10 the more you post in this thread. You seem to be self radicalising yourself in the thread, with some help from @Tim against it. 😉

Fingers Crossed. Can't polish a turd.

I can analyse Ardie Savea in a much more measured fashion though.

I thought that the premise gave them enough material for a really good short film or one-off TV episode (40 mins), but they ran through it and couldn't go somewhere else with it. The portrayal of the president was really weak.
