The long-serving team manager is leaving to go to the Western Force.
Yep, changes all around which I think is good.
Makes the Holland signing very odd if they are pushing people along.
From the people I have spoken to, the financial pressures of the last few years has made it a tough place to work.
In saying that, some pretty lean margins with the NZ Super sides. We are lucky there is an overseas billionaire with an interest. The money is just so tight normally though for all NZ clubs.
That is why the NPC replacing Super is just not viable.

The restack should be announced shortly. The new owners will tidy the Canes up.

Apologies, I was typing in a hurry - restack (as in the ownership).Ah. I don't live in W-town anymore. I hope they are well resourced or if nothing else they will improve governance which has been very poor for years

I love it. Evokes memories of Cully, Tana, Alama, Bull, Bill and all the rest.

Agree Laidlaw will probably be conservative. Losing Godfrey is a real shame. The successful spine of the Canes backline became Roigard, Love, Harkin but Laidlaw went away from that in what proved to be the last game of the season.
I'd be happy with Roigard, Love in the halves, Higgins and Proctor in the midfield and a back three of 11. Fineanganofo, Moorby and Barrett to start the season. Naholo out for the start of the campaign.
That's looks great, but we need to find room for Harkin, he seems to spark a lot of our attack.
I think both Harkin and Fineanganofo are very underrated. -
@UpTheHarbs That's a beauty.

I think both Harkin and Fineanganofo are very underrated.Harkin will be an interesting one - i still cant tell where he stands at this level. Confidence was a definite issue last year you could see in his decision making. A season of swapping between fullback, wing and 12 for the lions has been a weird one.
Will come down to how much the noise about Love to 10 plays out, and the juggling of Barrett and Higgins in the midfield with proctor. With Laidlaws track record, i sort of expect the early rounds to look something like
Roigard, Cameron, Naholo/Fehi, JB, BP, Moorby, Love with Higgins and Punivai on the bench.I would like to see Love at 10 & Cameron/Harkin to share the 23 jersey / Harkin at 15 if Jordies not there.

I think you're spot on here @DurryMexted, I think Laidlaw will be conservative early on and start Cameron at 10.

Big Bill is a laugh.
Having stood next to him fairly recently I can confirm he is fucken enormous these days. I reckon about 170kg

Good to see some key players back early for the Canes.
Riley Higgins and Asafo Aumua pictured back at training (finally), as well as Jordie Barrett.
