Australia might be discovering the hard way that their second string pacers - especially Doggett - aren't taking wickets against many teams (except probably our top order).

Starc 6/71, and then effectively nothing else, beyond Neser being economical.

And that's the issue: they're not taking wickets? Ok.

But they're going at 5rpo. Not ok

That's a pretty fucking good catch from Marnus...

Root 138* - that's some effort. Effectively carrying his bat after being in at 2 for fuck all

Opps, Jamie Smith drops Travis Head. That could cost his team 150+ runs.

    Nup.

Still that must be close to the best opening stand this series?

Australia motoring along here. Taking full advantage of some placid English bowling.

Huge pressure on Atkinson to take a wicket on behalf of English cricketers.

Marnus gets out to a fairly lame delivery. Why attempt to cut that?

Gotta say Archer looks very sore or injured, and to be harsh: he doesn't seem to have the mental fortitude to fight through it.

Starc is also going to hope Cummins and/or Hazelwood are back for Adelaide, as he's carrying this whole team right now and it was starting to show.

Australia deciding to do dumb things and getting dumb results, despite looking dominant since the first break

    England scored 334 runs @ 4.37RPO

    Australia have 329 @ 5..17

Duckett drops another one. Tough chance, compared to the absolute dolly he shelled a few overs ago.

Stokes decides his fielders are shit and gets one to nip back to castle Inglis. Good cherry.

Archer to try and get further into the tail before the finish of play.

Stokes looks cooked. Archer not far behind.

Fourth dropped catch this session. Smith didn't move with the gloves and it was his catch.

    Stokes is furious

44 run lead after throwing away utter dominance. 4 wickets in hand makes it a bit nicer.

    I'll take it

    Also worth noting:

    Australia bowled 74 overs yesterday

    Australia bowled 2.2 overs today
Change over is effectively 2 overs
    England bowled 73 overs today

    That's a total of 77.2 or 78 rounding up.

Jacks only bowled one over of spin so England's quicks are going at a better rate than ours, tho not by much

Australia in the driving seat to go 2-0 up. Their game to lose.
