This match rams home how pathetic it was letting this very average team bat 2 fucking days for a draw

losing half your bowlers and dropping catches affects that somewhat.

Yeah lightning struck twice there. Really bad luck. If one of the pacers had stayed fit they would have won the test pretty soundly.

    Duffy MOTM. Deserved.

Good to see both debutants have their moments, Tickner excellent til disaster struck.

Sound beating here, no reason this won’t happen again next time round.

A master stroke to bat first in the end. The Windies had to try and post a total rather than block their way out of it

What’s the cut off for attending ? If Mitch qualifies surely the whole team does.

Tom Latham obviously doesn’t like limo rides otherwise he would have put an over down.

I believe it's up to the keeper to adjudicate on whether part timers bowled enough overs to make the cut. I remember Kane get included a couple of years back after bowling about 4 or 5 overs - ND team mate BJ Watling was the keeper then. With Hay and Mitch being Canterbury team mates might have been a factor.

Changes for the next test ?

If I was selector it'd just be a straight swap Jamieson for Tickner for some more experience. Fuck knows whether they'll go there or continue managing his load ( ha, managing his "load" )

Conway had a good match which he needed to stay firmly in the frame.

Hay did nothing wrong and a lot right, with Blundells see saw batting form I'd give him another shot to prove no one should be coasting in this team.

If they don't go Jamieson does yet another newbie get a shot ?

Kristian Clarke the next man up if Jamieson not ready to go. Dunno who they call into the squad next if Jamieson isn't available - a quick look at this season's plunket shield has Josh Clarkson as the top seamer through the first couple of rounds, but based on what I've seen of his bowling he's probably a bit too much of a dibbly-dobbler to be effective in tests.

Wondered if any bowlers in this team had been in the limo previously.

Seems Mitch is one (looks like twice before). The other is Tickner (once). Unless I've missed anyone.

Sounds like they may go with an extra spin option for the next test at Bay Oval. Ajaz Patel has been mentioned.

It will be a rare opportunity outside of the subcontinent for Ajaz

Rhys Mariu just scored another hundred opening the batting for Canterbury.
Pressure is mounting on Conway & the selectors surely.

He did well in the last test and they’re loyal. Perhaps Young’s spot in the squad may be under threat but Conway should be ok for now.

Mariu has a brilliant record but still just 22 FC matches ( mind you other countries have picked guys off of the equivalent of that )

Is Razor advising selection for the BCs in the offseason?

We liked Blundell. Did his job. Time to move on.
