Guess NZ is not going to host again, unless it's a joint bid with Australia?

We can't afford what world rugby want these days. It's very expensive.

@mariner4life fake it till you make it.

Yeah SA game is designed to win knock out footy, it might not win too many fans, but it is effective to win at rugby.

I think there is a happy medium somewhere for playing the grinding rugby SA* play and the more open game we and others invariably want to play, which is attractive to current fans and new fans, how we get there from where we are right now however, I'm not sure.

*given they have some mighty talented backs who given the chance, can play, it is odd they will more often revert to the grind style.

With TB in the coaching staff, this has come true. Not sure that SA are getting any more fans that are not from SA though.

Yes, you'd have to think all SA would be getting on board, which is good.

But you're right; it's hard to imagine many non-saffas getting on board; or any non-rugby fans.
    Which is not good.
You'd like to think a rugby team with one of the best records of all-time would be attracting fans to the sport.

They still have time for some rule tweaks before 2027, which might force coaches to alter their thinking.

Am thinking way back in 2023 when I posted, it was about the game winning more fans rather than the Boks getting more fans.

    @taniwharugby

    Haha
Thought it was still a relevant comment though.
Winning is always good for your own supporter base, in what ever manner you achieve it.
But getting wider support for the game is guna take something more than just one generational winning team.
That team has to be winning with a certain sort of "style" to do that.

The next RWC will be interesting from an Aussie perspective.
In the most white hot football code competition on the planet, the rugby (union) "spectacle" will be judged directly against the show that the NRL and AFL are putting up.

It looks like WR have completely taken over the RWC.
Probably be the norm from now on.

Yes, if the very financial French could F it up, super risky for virtually everyone else.
Means all the upside will be WRs, which I suppose is ok.
