If any NBA owner ever tries to hire Nico as their GM they should have their team taken from them

i watched the Spurs beat the Thunder in the semi of the NBA Cup yesterday. Great game, close all the way through, multiple lead changes.

But holy shit i think the NBA has a problem. First, get absolutely fucked with the whistle the Thunder get. SGA draws fouls for the worst shit. The Thunder's young plucky defense gets away with so much shit it's unreal. Just whack away at the arms, it's all good. But don't fucking breath on SGA.

But their biggest problem is how they address the end of games. The last 25 seconds on the clock yesterday took 15 minutes. And little to no basketball was actually played. Fouls and time outs. There should have been a crescendo type finish to what had been a great game, instead we just had both teams fouling each other until you just want it to end either way. The NBA really needs to look at this and in a hurry.

Rockets Nuggets game was a good one tonight. They went shot for shot until Segun bricked with 6 seconds to go in OT.

I haven't caught a Nuggets game in a few weeks and had no idea they were on a four game home losing streak. That was most unexpected.

I don't know the xs and os of basketball but I was watching the Mavs game on Christmas day and it looks like j kidd is stealing a living.

Warriors were getting any shot they wanted when the game was on the line. If they wanted a layup they got it, an open three, a midrange all the same.... they manipulated the Mavs d however they wanted to. The Mavs could not get a stop even if their lives depended on it.

On offense there seemed to be no set plays at all...... It was hard to see any evidence if coaching tbh.

Jokic went down with a knee injury - came out of the game. Looks like it could be a bad one. 👎

    @nonpartizan

    Hopefully not too bad.
The only regular season games i've bothered watching over the past few years have been Jokic games.

@mohikamo he avoided disaster. A knee hyperextension so will be out approximately a month.

That is a relief. Hopefully they can sustain winning w ways without him.

Well, Spurs having beaten the Thunder twice over the holidays and they register another signature win, this one v Knicks, coming from behind. The deficit was 15+ pts.

Things look wide open this season.

Derrick Queen still looking very good - has 5 blocks in his last game. Not scoring at a high enough level (or consistently) to threaten those two Dukies for ROTY honours but leads all rookies in rebounds and assists.

Not sure how close to a record this is, buy it seems like it would be a record - Cavs conceded 97 points through 3 quarters v the Nuggets tonight. Then held the Nuggets to 11 points in the 4th.

I guess one benefit from being without Gordon and Jokic is they are going to have to figure out how to get every drop of offense out of the rest of their squad which should, I guess pay dividends come April.

    Hot take:

Steph Curry is the greatest player of the last 15 years and this is his era. Casual go-ahead logo threes at 37 are just nothing now.

Changed the game like few have in history. Won.

Totally ruined school boy basketball. I don't enjoy kids jacking up high volumes of 3s when they can barely hit them at 10%

He's screwed up basketball in general. At all levels now players will give up easy layups for the corner 3 🙄

@canefan whilst I (obviously) disagree with Mariner's assertion, and I agree with you on kids bball being torture now - I can't hate Steph for it. He's a joy to watch, clearly the best shooter of all-time by a significant margin, and by all accounts a great guy.

He's just also the guy who showed we misunderstood the math 🤷

Steph doesn't get his props because most fans equate being 6'6 and having huge guns with greatness.

Don't mistake my opinion for lack of admiration. The guy is a freak
