    Can confirm ACL.

Gone for SR then that is normally at least 6 months .
Shearer in to the squad from WTG ?

I lesson for myself and others on the Fern. Let’s stop hyping young players up because they always seem to end up on the sidelines.

Super guttering. Was looking forward to seeing the whippet go.

A lesson for NZ rugby too I reckon: pick people when they deserve it because if you don't injury might cost you the next opportunity.

Hugely disappointing for Pledger. Hopefully he gets the support he needs around this and makes the right decisions for hia recovery.

Massive loss for the Highlanders. Millar is a completely different player with a playmaking nine inside of him.

@reprobate absolutely, sliding doors and all, but had he gone on tour with NZ A last year, he gets experience, grows slightly, gets different break, body and mind in different condition, is not in that position for the moment that causes that injury (or could have been injured on tour, worse or slightly less serious and ready for the start of super)

Injuries can happen at any time. All reports indicate it was Joseph who pushed for Pledger to not be selected for the AB XV. Those players are back training now.

The hype was justified every game he started for Otago they scored 28+ Points , If I'm honest I had a sinking feeling in my stomach when someone kept harping on about Higgins getting injured as a 2026 prediction that a Lander would be struck down early my mind went to Hurley or Nareki but well didn't envision this sigh it's tough for pledger, even the timing stinks bloke could essentially go like 16 months without playing a competive game of Rugby.

    Every cloud a silver lining.

After years and years of bad luck, it feels like the stars might just be aligning for Folau Fakatava - who is an extremely good halfback in his own right.

@frugby I did wonder how things would play out if Fakatava and Pledger both had the season of their lives who they’d handle that. There’s every possibility Fakatava takes the third halfback slot in the All Blacks with a decent season.

Devastating for the young man. Was looking forward to seeing him play Super this year. All the best to him for his recovery. Gutted for you Highlanders fans.

Have the Highlanders had extra players training given they only had 9 in their WTG?

Super shit news about Pledge, brutal. Hope this doesn’t impact his game at all. Get that recovery right and a full off season in the gym adding a bit of size is about the only positive you can take out of it.

I don’t want to pile on the bad news here but Finn Hurley is/has been in a moon boot. Unsure the severity at the moment, here’s hoping not a major.

I think his game is strong enough to come back from this. By that I mean his strengths are not limited to relying on speed and agility. He seems to have a very high rugby IQ so, if he really wants to, I am confident he will find a away to excel if does lose a bit physically.

@SouthernMann it's all bit sad really was looking forward to to a bench with some spark to it Pledger/Fakatava 21, Hurley 22. I'd almost now suggest really wanting Lucas casey to be in the reserves from day 1 somehow? the guy is worth 7 points on the scoreboard
