For some reason Townsend thought it would be sensible to omit the top two try scorers in Scottish history and a British Lion.....and put a halfback on the wing.

I guess it was only Italy, problem was they won.

In the first five minutes I thought Italy were going to be in for a hiding. Just tackling and shit kicks. But two tremendous tries, misfunctioning lineout for Scotland and playing in the pissing rain made it an arm-wrestle.

I watched the rapid recap highlights on Stan - for some reason they showed the missed drop goal attempt three times.

Those highlights didn't make me want to watch the whole game.
