Speaking of Star Wars, this guy apparently built his own "Death Ray" which can burn all sorts of stuff up with solar energy<br />

Best sports images of 2010<br />
<br />
This could be included somewhere in sports I guess - but this thread seems a good a place as any.<br />
<br />
Leo Bertos features, along with mainly US based sports.<br />
<br />
Parts of the site could be deemed NSFW.

All that airborne stuff and no rugby tackles or dives for the tryline etc. Yet somehow a couple of Newcastle Knights players hugging is deemed to be a best sports photo of 2010? Crazy.

Interesting news from the Kepler probe's mission to find exoplanets:<br />
<br />
http://www.boingboing.net/2011/02/07/exploring-keplers-li.html<br />
<br />
Last week's data release from Kepler appears to have temporarily overwhelmed both professional and amateur exoplanet enthusiasts. After the initial flurry of basic overview posts on the Kepler data, I noticed a conspicuous hush fall over many of my favorite astronomy blogs, presumably caused by their authors turning en masse to parse the new treasure trove.<br />
<br />
The list of more than 1200 candidate planets will likely yield more than a thousand actual confirmed worlds once culled of false positives. One system, Kepler-11, contains six confirmed transiting planets, and another system, KOI 157, has five candidates. Eight systems have been found with four candidate planets, along with 45 triple-planet and 115 double-planet systems. It's a lot to digest, and only represents the first four months of data from a 3.5-year mission.
I'm glad someone else found this interesting. They have only looked at a small piece too, so it looks like planets are extremely common, it can only be a matter of time before we find life out there.
