@African-Monkey bro come on. Fekitoa's tackle was poor play by him. It had nothing to do with the kick from Smith. He made the choice to go high and got rightly penalised for it.

Bit surprised not to see Dagg involved in the kicking in this game, his punt would have been useful at times especially clearing from our 22.

Does anyone know the possession stats?

Ireland had 66% possession (source: Opta)

One of the questions about Barrett (apart from his goal kicking) was how he would do in a game where our forwards were getting dominated. I do not know that our forward pack did get dominated but we were well behind in territory and possession then of course there was the penalties. Barrett answered those questions by how well he played.

He was great and kicked bloody well. What shits me to tears though is him being sent to fullback for Cruden. Its exactly around that time that when defenses are buggered that BB could cause havoc. Instead he's a sweeper at the back.

That is the benefit of Sopoaga, I guess. He can come straight on at fullback.

All the window dressing aside Ireland have came to play today - they still don't have much on attack unless they catch you on a bad day - but absolutely full credit for actually fronting and giving a good tight test.

Schmidt has Ireland playing the type of rugby Gatland has spent 10 years trying to get Wales to play.

Yeah, 9 points is poor considering they had 20 minutes against 14, at home, with a crowd influencing a ref

It isn't the ref making high tackles taking the head offs the opponents or doing the Aaron Smith offside play at the breakdown. Just curious why you say Peyper is a home town ref. Between him and TMO he gave AB's 14 points for free. He didn't have balls to go to TMO on a forward pass. We all know the try wasn't grounded by Beaudy. Refs must realize that with cams from all angles things get picked up. 2 errors from TMO / Peyper cost Ireland the game. Wait for the press. πŸ™‚

          You Irish amuse me.

Ireland essentially clueless on attack outside of their backrow. Did they have any backs? They could hold the ball but with that amount of possession they should have racked up more points.

Justin Marshall style WOW I really enjoyed that test match . People having been banging on about the 2018 test vs England, but fuck that. Give us the next test vs Ireland pronto. I knew we'd show up, but they did too. They've had the best of general play three times in a row against us now. It's shaping up to be a top rivalry, certainly now our toughest rivalry against guys wearing green.

Tremendous D from the ABs. The Irish really have relatively little to offer in the outside backs (at this stage, though there seems to be talent coming through), but their forward pack is brutal.

              It wasn't even flat.

But at least O'Piper sends him away. Eventually.

We beat France next week it has been a great season ,

While the rest of the world may see us as the team to chase ,

The reality is ,put the wins to one side, with the players we have lost , we are in a rebuilding phase ,

We can improve and I think we will

Are you trolling? I'll bite once, and that's me

Clearly grounded the ball on the first replay angle (and a head high to boot)

THe second was a line ball - once the ref calls it, you need more than a crowd booing to overturn. Looked fine to me - look at the lines on the ground and the hand action to clarify

You don't need to look at lines on the ground only the action of the passer. There is no way barring incompetence that would be called a clear and obvious forward pass.
We don't all know the ball wasn't grounded. I saw ball touch ground from one angle and doubt from another angle. The first over rules the second.

I wasn't entirely paying attention but was The conversion being lined up when the Irish captain came forward for a whinge? If so O'Piper should have told him to fuck of or the restart would be a penalty.

I doubt Ireland will turn up with the same intensity against the wobs. They clearly targeted the Abs, and their injuries won't help them either. I am picking a win to the wobs next week.

@ACT-Crusader I'm not defending his tackle it was definitely poor and reckless, but Smith's poor box kick after we had just weathered a storm on defence put us in a position under pressure yet again which could easily have been avoided.

Agree , it was the ability of the Irish to hold on to the ball in Chicago that made the difference, here they held on to the ball but still lost 3 tries to zero.

@ACT-Crusader I'm not defending his tackle it was definitely poor and reckless, but Smith's poor box kick after we had just weathered a storm on defence put us in a position under pressure yet again which could easily have been avoided.

I was screaming to get Smith off after that high tackle.

After Fekitoa scored and Barrett was lining up the conversion, the usual TV director shit comes up and he shows the last pass which was flat, a few in the stadium start to boo, Rory Best comes running from behind the posts up to Barrett who was preparing the kick and PEyper and wnats them to check

                                    It wasn't even flat.

But at least O'Piper sends him away. Eventually.

I guess on your tiny TV screens in NZ you can't tell the difference. On my 65" it was forward. πŸ™‚

Wow. I have seen some dumb shit on here over the years but that is right up there. I have a TV screen that is more than capable of showing a players hands being directed away from the try line.

Funny how these idiots show up after the odd win against the AB. The Saffas always do it then disappear - some notable exceptions of course.

I think SA losing to Italy shows that while we are good the results in the RC were deceiving and that the southern hem sides are not superior at the moment - Ireland OZ will tell a story

A few months ago (June Internationals), Boks beat Ireland 2-1 in a home series (with Ireland winning first game in SA). A lot has changed since June with Bok team basically going down hill (hardly won a game since, except 1 against Argentinia). Back then I noticed Irish having a good season. Based on Chicago and today, I think they will give Aus a good go (as long as there aren't injuries).
