    266 for 8 at tea

Good work by BJ on 45

Southee's swinging kind of paid off for 29 off 29. Liked the guy keeping the stats on the Southee Swingometer or whatever it was called :).

Henry caught a couple in the middle too.

I think any more from here is probably a decent bonus given I thought we'd struggle to get to 250.

Happy for the tail to have a bit of a crack once BJ gets fitty.

Watling has 12 not outs now in 77 innings. I don't see why he always has to be at 7, especially when the player at 6 is clearly a worse batsmen. In the past, Santner has batted at 6 ans Watling has batted at 7 so I don't see why Santner is now at 8 and Watling is still at 7.

Santner was never a 6.. I know they played him there but that was just shit from the coaches/selectors

Next ball Wagner gets the debutant Rizwan to hole out in the deep hooking. On a hat trick

Perhaps CdG is the all-rounder we've been looking for, particularly as Neesham and Anderson are walking foodbills.

Agree that Nicholls must be on his last chance.

One thing that Hesson has been very good at is giving players lots of chances before they're discarded. Nicholls has been in and out a bit depending on conditions and availability of others. He's still struggling to establish himself in the XI and could drop back to the fringe - but, I don't think he'll be at all close to being discarded at present - especially with Guppy being given the boot and Rossco off for eye surgery. Even if Rossco wasn't out for a while, I doubt Nicholls is under real threat. We've got to be developing the guy who will bat at 4 in a couple of years.

His average is a bit ugly, but his scores aren't unpromising. He will be kicking himself for not padding his average against the Zimbabs.

Hydro - agree that Watling should be batting higher at present. It's surely wishful thinking that de Grandhomme will ever be a test class 6.

That was a crazy first ball for Rizwan, it will play over and over in his head for some time. Nearly hit his first ball in test cricket for 6.

Black Caps well on top following some really good stuff from Southee and Wagner. Henry good without luck, Raval and CDGH both managing to drop catches from the same delivery.

Rubbish bowling this morning, Pakistan have been untroubled and scored in multiples of 4.

Pakistan all out for 216, BCs with a 55 run lead. Southee took 6-80 and Babar was stranded on 90*.

    If 5 is a Michelle, does that make 6 a David? (Pfeiffer's +1)

I've been impressed with Raval. Top score in the first innings, and some very good catches at slip. If he could just continue on, bye bye test Guppy.

Southee a six-for. Whoda thunk it.

Babar has talent in spades, big future for that kid, sad to see him stranded on 90 he really deserved his ton.

Fucking hammering down now, no more play today me thinks.

Why when Sohail comes in do they immediately start bowling tripe? Just bowl a good length and he'll get out. He may just whack a couple over the top but Wagner medium paced half trackers give him a free hit.

Shit Pakistan don't travel well as I alluded to in a previous post or twenty.

This test is the BCs for the taking regardless of potentially shitty weather.

Useless bastard is only averaging 73 - Bradman was 26 better than that! Though I suppose, if you add his and Guppy's averages together....🤔

Crucial morning session here, if we get through relatively unscathed that will go a long way towards winning the match. Hoping to see Latham get some time in the middle.
