To Live in Die in LA may be the best film extant.

Michael Mann sued the producers for ripping off the Miami Vice aesthetic (gained an out of court settlement). Perhaps that is why Friedkin has ruined the new blu-ray by radically changing the colour to look like a 70s movie. This has resulted in everyone's face being red, like a very badly over saturated television.

The original blu-ray release is still aces.

There was a mention of the TV Series Shooter in the other thread so I thought I'd give the movie starring Marky Mark a viewing on Netflix. Watched the first five minutes, gave it a one out of five rating and promptly stopped watching.

Ha, I have just realized that I though the Shooter movie/series was about the American Sniper movie/story!

Watched a Korean Zombie movie, Train to Busan on the weekend, wasn't bad...but then I like me a zombie movie, so better than even chance I was going to like it and their zombies were similar to the World War Z ones, although with a bit of a difference difference

I thought Shooter was reasonably entertaining.

Hungover as fuck Saturday, so i watched movies on the couch.

The Big Short. I am fascinated by the 2008 financial crisis, and the events that lead to it. This movie was another pretty good story telling of the events surrounding it, told from a slightly different point of view. It was well done, i loved the cut-aways to complex terms being explained in simple ways (i never want to learn anything ever again unless it's being explained by a naked Margot Robbie). It's a bigger discussion than the movie, but i am still astounded no one went to jail for that shit. And i really believe Goldman Sachs to be the most evil organisation in the world. 4.5 synthetic CDO's out of 5 crooked ratings agencies

So, after that i decided to watch some mindless violence, which turned out to be Jason Bourne. I love the original Bourne movies. This was essentially the same formula, right down to the parkinsons camera work. But it just doesn't measure up, and of the four, i think it's easily the 4th best (it's still above that Renner garbage). The main thing was i just didn't understand anyone's motivations this time, they seemed pretty weak. 3 useless CIA operatives out of 5 crooked CIA suits.

@mariner4life motive was simple, get Jason Bourne, expect it will be the same in the next one too 😕 I like the Bourne movies too, sans the Renner one

Yeah I didn't mind the Shooter movie, know what you are getting with Marky Mark.

@mariner4life Agreed on Jason Bourne. I had high hopes for this one but alas, they were unfounded. It just had a feel of a film in search of a story. Too many inconsistencies too. How come Nicky could find him so easily while the bloody CIA couldn't?

    Just not very good.

You would have enjoyed the movie more if you had watched the series first.

Guest spot by a young (25yo) Christina Hendricks as Mal's wife.

Movie's rating just went up to 3.5 hot redheads out of 5.

@Tim I saw that on the big screen when it came out, I'm sure its very dated and camp now.

    X-Men: Apocalypse

Chicks went out for the night so the boy and i propped on the couch and paid $2.99 to rent this.

Quite enjoyed it. Explosions, Rose Byrne, massive mutant powers, Sydney Opera House getting ripped apart etc.

Equally good: J-Law and Olivia Munn in skin tight gear. Worth the price of admission alone.

4 out of 5 Logan's running through the frozen waste.

    Walking Tall (1973)

The first half owns. Joe Don Blake strutting around with his big stick, and laying down some elemental justice. The second half meanders, though it has a few moments. Could've added a big action sequence, or cut out 20 to 30 mins.

    7/10

@jegga if true, why would you need the original, if you have made several copies???

No fans would notice or care.
