    Arsenal draws 2-2 with PSG in a game PSG dominated. PSG are favoured to win the group with an easier last game and head-to-head advantage. Man City drew 1-1 at Borussia Moenchengladbach so also progress to the last 16.

    Winning your group might not be such an advantage this year as Bayern and Real Madrid could end up 2nd in their groups.

    @Rocky-Rockbottom said in EPL 16/17:

    I don’t get it. So Spurs slog their arses off for a EPL season, to qualify for Champs league, then, mission accomplished, key CL game, on verge of elimination, they rest their key defenders… so they can qualify for Champs league next year… hello, they lose the big game and are bundled out of precious Champs league in group stages. “Oh well, maybe next year guyz! Let’s get some rest before our big EPL game on Saturday! It's a loooong road to qualify for next years Champions league!”

    The theory is that Pochettino and Levy did not expect Spurs to make the UCL this year, and Levy (who is notoriously tight fisted) was not willing to spend big on players that would have allowed us to make a big splash in the UCL (so WTF he bought Sissoko beggars belief). Pochettino is merely being prudent and trying to manage the squad he has, unfortunately at the expense of UCL glory. We are trying to be Arsenal Lite

    Goals galore this morning. The biggest result was Chelski beating Man City 3-1 away with City finishing with only 9 men. Aguero was one of the players red-carded so will be a huge loss in the coming games.

    As Kiwipie has mentioned earlier in the thread, the winner of this season changes nearly every week.

    Chelsea looking good at the moment. Arsenal are on their pre-Christmas run which comes to a halt late Dec, early Jan

    Bournemouth are a decent team but 3 goals in 14 mins. Fellani to the rescue as well - for Everton. 😃

    Ah Liverpool, there's the team i know. 3 goals + calamitous defending = predictable result.

    It looked like Klopp had sorted the worst of the blunders out, but our best defender is out, and we are fucked. We need another one in January.

    And our 2 keepers are both fucking useless.

    It's a great Premier League season. It's like every month has a new favourite for the title. Even Spurs roared back to life this weekend.

    playing well too. Started the streak murdering teams, now grinding out close ones. They are looking good.

    But this season is nuts, and i fully expect them to start sucking for a month somewhere soon and the others to catch up again.

    The results yesterday certainly helped Chelski, and to a lesser extent Spurs and Arsenal. If the Costa problem continues I expect that will impact on Chelsea's chances against the better teams so the chasers will close the gap.

    Outside Chelsea, Spurs look the strongest of the chasing bunch. If Costa leaves (and I think that likely), then they will certainly drop a few points, and thus make Spurs favourites for the title.

    Spurs. Fucking Spurs. Yid army and all.

    @MajorRage that'll change again in a couple of weeks. This season is fucked, but great. I thought it was going to be tough to follow up last year's fairytale, but this is a good season. The top 6 are all going hammer and tongs, with every team having ups and downs. The bottom 6 are in a tight tussle to finish 17th, and are all trying to do it by scoring.

    You are right though, Spurs are probably the best team in the comp at the moment. Pretty sure they have a tough couple of away games coming up though.

    The Costa story should have derailed Chelsea somewhat, but they were great on the weekend.

    Title race now over? Chelsea win again to extend the lead to 8 points with 14 to go, and that is to Arsenal, who of course won't win it. Spurs next at 9 points, then 'pool at 10 points back. Surely everyone is playing for champs league places now? Gap from 2nd to 6th is only 6 points.

    I don't think so. Chelsea have 2 big games vs Liverpool and Arsenal coming up so there is the opportunity to drop points there. They also have to play both Manchester teams. Of course the chasing teams need to keep winning to close the gap.

    The fact they aren't in Europe is a huge advantage - no distractions.

    Lots of water to flow under the bridge yet mate ... The chasing bunch is very tight, and they all need to play Chelsea yet. Yes, the lead looks good, but with that pack being so tight, you have to expect at least one of them to go on a 5-6 match winning run. Chelsea drop 2 games and boom ... right on their tails.

    Watched some of Leicester Southampton last night ... man alive, hard to believe Leicester are defending premiers!

    There are 9 teams currently in the Premier league to have never been relegated out of it.

    Can you list them without cheating?

    @Hooroo Only the Premier League (post 1992) or the old Div 1 too? If it's the latter it would make it much more interesting.

    @Bovidae
    Only Premier league for the time being.

    Otherwise I believe it is only one team that has never been relegated from top flight? Maybe two

    I'm wrong. Every team that has been int he top flight has been relegated at least once.

    Arsenal has the longest riegn not to be relegated
