lol there isn't a thread marshal onboard to taser ya Mokey! Good work on cranking out a thread of your own - it's a good way to keep track of your progress, get advice and gripe about injuries and those pesky last couple of kg's!

Excellent workout tonight. Had the new exercises added in and that was good fun. One of those days were everything feels strong, form is good and you just smash it. Have been able to get into a better routine over the last couple of weeks after the summer madness of bbq's and weddings had calmed down. Will be seeing PT again in a couple of weeks to tweak my other workout. That'll mean two day's worth to rotate through which should avoid feeling stale etc.

Paekakboyz 3 - trees 0! finished clearing the last trees for our new retaining wall (and eventually a deck). Ugh I hate digging out tree stumps, just no easy way to do it! A bloody good workout though.

Bit of break over the last week. Had 2-3 where I was unwell and the weekend was spent working on a retaining wall and the foundations of a deck. Actually think the short break will be good. Keen as to hit the gym tonight - haven't decided if I want to do DL's or squats... will make a call once I get to the gym. Definitely noticed the added strength during the recent labouring etc Given my knee still has the odd twinge I'm way more confident with lifting and stuff.

Good workout - went for gold as I've had a week or so off. Felt it most on bench press. Funnily enough DL's felt pretty good. Will be back in on Wednesday and probably saturday.

Sore, sore, sore. Went hard tonight. Been well over a week since I'd done this programme so it was tough. 3rd sets were pretty tough but it was all good. Kept up a good pace so was blowing a bit by the end.

Bah, had been keen as to get things moving again but a weekend in the garden screwed the plan up. Was digging out tree stumps (the bane of my existence!) and copped some nasty blisters - several beauties actually. Nice and painful! particularly when exposed to water, soap, facewash, shampoo or scratching my beard!! agh!
Either way I wasn't keen to hit the gym last night with my tender paws. They are healing ok so I'm hoping to make the gym thursday. A real bugger as I had just started back after a weeks break. Super keen to get some decent momentum going as we head into winter.

decent workout - hands were a bit sore bit it only really bugged me on bench. DL's felt pretty good - I think my grip strength is improving which makes that final set easier, no slipping etc. Hoping to sneak in a sat morning workout to keep momentum up. Have a 30th friday night and a mates welcome home bowling comp on sat arvo - could be tough to fit it in!

Had friends from overseas visit during Easter so no gym work. Did manage to build a decent sized garden box outside and got to shovel plenty of dirt around - good core, back and arm workout! should be back at the gym on wed for day 2 of my programme. It's been nearly a week again since I last did squats so I won't be pushing the weight up this workout. Def want to see some improvement in weight lifted for DL's and squats in the next 2 weeks or so.

we are 7 days between each bodypart as a rule, so you should be able to crank into your legs fine, they'll be fresh and ready to go!!

Nice advice Bartman! knocked out a PB at squats today. 1106, 1206, then 130*6. Was pretty chuffed with it. Felt like I had a bit in the tank but I superset my squats with a core exercise so I decided not to add another heavier set. Rest of the workout was really good. Looking forward to next squat workout though!

The rest approach works again! pb on DL's tonight and managed to sneak over the 100kg bench mark. Was very chuffed. Sweating like demon and was seriously blowing on my DL supersets!
Cranking along at 3 sets of 6 for these now plus the matching superset exercise
Squat 130kg - moving plank on bosu ball
Bench 100kg - bent over barbell row @ 60kg
Dead Lift 120kg - ripper core exercise

Aiming for 150kg+ in squat and would like to do the same for DL's although I get the feeling that will either take me way longer or I'll have to go for lower reps. Actually my hands tore up a bit on DL's today - might look at gloves to avoid nasty callouses... only happens on DL's though. I get that pinch right at the base of my fingers - not sure if its because I use alternating grip or just due to my hobbit hands!

Either way I was very pleased with today's effort. Amping for wed night now!!

I've found the hands tend to toughen up over time, don't get me wrong my hands are still far more "office boy" than "farm boy" but I've always given gloves a miss. Obviously the hands hurt a fair bit afterwards on occasions in saying this but it does get easier !

yeah I'd prefer not to use gloves - seems a bit stupid as it'd only be for DL's... don't need them for any other lifts. Have seen some different sorts of grips on the web - the hook grip seems to have the bar away from the palm of your hand to stop it slipping. Reckon I'll try that out and wait for the hands to toughen up some.

Seen a couple of guys use chalk at the gym too - haven't noticed any rules against it so that's also an option I guess.
