There is a problem with the Marvel movies that nothing matters, nobody gets killed and all the bad guys are the same.
And I'm never quite sure who the main star is, because at least one or ten of his/ her mates will turn up.

Pretty sure it's the guy demanding $50m per movie, RD Jnr
Haven't enjoyed all the Marvel films, only prefer Iron Man and Captain America. Thor is meh, Hulk is like watching a video game. The 2nd Avengers film was so so.
Overall favourite is easily Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 looks awesome. Have enjoyed seeing the trailer before Rogue One too
After the Dark Knight trilogy it feels there's nothing left to achieve with Batman.Heaps more to do as Nolan screwed the ending up, Batman would never retire.
-
@Kirwan mate, Batman is probably my favorite superhero (uber organised vigilante - which explains why I still watch Gotham, in hope they show more of the young Batman) never a fan of Superman, grew up with this WW
although looking forward to seeing, er, more of the new WW

I distinctly recall watching Linda Carter get around in that outfit and having happy thoughts in my shorts.
-
@MajorRage am cool with both...Linda has her place, as does Gal now.

Took the boy to Moana today. It got a round of applause when it finished and rightly so, excellent movie and would recommend you get along to it. Movie of the year for me, though I may be a bit biased..

Took my girls to see it today as well
Big kiwi influence with Tem Morrison and a few others doing voices.
A typical Disney flick ( great animation and full of songs)
Will it be the next Frozen? Let's hope the fuck not. -
Moana: wha Heihei out of rima Sopoagas.
Enjoyable movie even though they appeared to screw Taika out of a writing credit. I thought they handled the 'culture' really well and in the end Maui wasn't actually a fatso he was just massive, must be the Tongan Maui even though he was voiced by a Samoan. I like how they just decided to not give a shit about accents and let the characters do it in their own - it was especially noticeable when the poly words were spoken as the Maori actors were enunciating on the first vowel and the non Maori were doing it more on the second.
Good to see a decent Kiwi contingent with Tem, the Grandma, Jermaine and Oscar Knightly who sounded like he was the freshest PI to ever step off a boat.
How embarrassing though for Tem, proud Te Arawa (often known as the people of the mirror amongst other iwi), nephew of Howie - and they get some American dude to sing his characters songs. WTF! They even let The Rock sing. The songs were pretty good, although I thought they could have used a few more PI drum sounds as opposed to vaguely African sounds at times.
Heihei was awesome.

This may have aloready been mentioned but if you are yet to see The Dark Horse, drop everything and steal it from someone!!!
Best NZ movie I have seen.
Cliff Curtis can act up a storm too!
Curtis is superb in that film as is the guy who plays his older brother, if you haven't seen it yet be warned its hard to watch in places as it is very raw but incredibly well made.

They Live. Possibly one of the greatest movies I've ever watched.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

I love that film, just awesome.

Nocturnal Animals - Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams and Michael Shannon.
Reckon Jake Gyllenhaal is a damn good actor nowadays, and in this he is a writer who sends his manuscript to his ex-wife to read. The movie plays out with flashbacks of thier life together and as Amy Adams reading the book as it also plays out with Gyllenhaal and Shannon key characters in the book.
3.5 Donnie Darkos out of 5 Nightcrawlers

I have two groups of friends who have seen this - one group absolutely hates it and the other thinks it's the best movies they've seen in the last 12 months.
So, having a $10 movies deal and not going away over Xmas I saw:
Passengers: Decent, better than the reviews it's getting.Thankfully I didn't watch the trailer for this as apparently it lays out the whole storyline.
Assassin's Creed: A good movie based on a game, who would have thought?
Allied: During the first act of this movie I was mildly interested, during the beginning of the second I was flat out bored. Then it completely changed tack and became a much more interesting film. I've discovered with this and Assassin's Creed that I almost find Marion Colltiard unwatchable, I just can't stand her (and she's in everything at the moment, I wish it would go back to Alicia Vikander being in everything).
La La Land: This might be the most overrated film going, it's not bad, it's watchable, but it doesn't live up to the hype it's getting and the likely Oscars it will because it's a movie about Hollywood. Emma Stone has a great voice, but they wait until the end to really give her a decent song to sing with it.
