Bangles outfielder makes the criminal mistake of letting the ball go over his head for 4. Amateur and costly.

My point about WASP stands though. It has basically no meaning because it constantly changes every ball. It's like watching the cricket with some dickhead that changes his prediction on whose going to win 50 times based on what is actually happening.

21 from the last 7 balls has completely taken the pressure off us. Should be a walk from here. *as he says touching wood

Wow. What a difference a few overs makes. And some appalling fielding from the Bangles. Bloody hell. Giving Kane multiple lives is just moronic.

It's basic stuff that you've got to get right. If you're at the MCG you field 5m in from the boundary as that ground is fucking huge. In Napier you hug the boundary. And Doull's comments about walking in are moronic, you'd think he never played cricket before. On a ground like that you either don't walk in or you start your walk-in from beyond the boundary rope. Duh.

I don't know how it is calculated but it seems to do the exact same job as duckworth/lewis. It uses the cumulative history of ODI cricket to tell you which team is better. I don't think WASP tells you other important stuff. Whether a team is winning depends on whether a team has good batsmen in the shed or who has overs left to bowl.

I didn't need Wasps or Bees or anything like that to know that the Black Caps would annihilate this sorry bunch of Bangies.

Heading slightly off topic, but WTF is up with the blue/red trim kit that Kane has changed into? The dirties were wearing it during the game too....
Stinks of England, get rid rid of it!

Re WASP. This is going to sound more rude than intended.

But if you don't like WASP ignore it.

I like it. It is, I expect, the Duckworth-Lewis calc.

And again, it takes into account, even if only statistically, how many/whether there are any decent batsman left etc.

As for runs required v balls / overs left it's usually reasonably easy to work out in a T20.

Harder for an ODI (at say 31 overs to go ...)

I don't mind if they display it from time to time, but the RPO and runs/balls should be static on the screen for the entire run chase. It's by far the most important statistic.

I thought the explanation of WASP was that it simply analyses all of the past matches for the current situation and tell you what % of a win occurred in similar games eg it is looking for balls left, batsmen left, runs required

Time for cult hero CDGH to play a blinder.

    And he does. Well played.

As for Henry - he really does have all the variations for a death bowler. Steak and cheese, chicken and vege, even the classic mince.

How Henry is in a limited overs team is beyond me, he is atrocious at run restricting at the end.

Only one surprise in the test team named today, and that is Henry Nicholls keeping his place.
I thought they would have given Neesham or Broom the 5 spot.
I can't believe he's still there, if he cant score some runs this series that'll be him gone for sure.

Who misses out in the test line up? For me it's Henry and Brownlie. Nicholls needs serious runs but even if he doesn't deliver the Bangies are nothing but cannon fodder. They will get reamed.

I'm a fan of giving him the series. He's young, if you look at his last 3 test series SA in SA, India in India - thats 2 of the toughest intros going, even Pakistan in NZ isn't great for a batsman as their bowling unit is OK, its their batting overseas thats awful.

So to drop him right before a terrible test team with no bowling unit finally tours would tell us nothing. Especially if they gave his spot to an old guy. What would we learn then? That anyone can score off the Bangles? Its like when Sinclair would get dropped for a home visit by Zimbanwe & then selected to tour Australia & fail

If Nichols can't score off the Bangles in NZ then, yes, test cricket is maybe not for him. But he should get the chance, its not like we have a lot of 25 year old batsmen kicking the door down.

Kane and Anderson out within a few balls. 47/3. Munro only one doing anything.
