Movie review thread...

Seeing the material, and the director, it looks conflicted.

Saw Disney's Moana last night and really enjoyed it. Both Moana and Maui were great characters. I was the only person in the theater who appeared to click on as to why the retarded rooster was named Hei Hei though....

I think we're the only ones who use heihei - the PI's still use Moa? Moa the chicken is less funny I guess.

Well a quick google tells me that Roly never actually drowned, it was an urban myth.
I really thought he did!

I think he probably stopped a couple of generations of kids being called Roly though

Back to the non-boob things for a moment:
Kubo And The Two Strings
Pretty bloody good . Tells the tale of a young boy and his magical forebears in a feudal Japan setting. Magical, with a compelling storyline, it doesn't pull any punches when it comes to grounding itself in the reality of life and death.
Great stop-motion production and effects as well. Little slow to start.
4 out of 5 talking monkeys.

@Rembrandt You forgot the half Mexican part of the partner.
This movie was hyped to buggery before I saw it (people giving it 9 gun toting Texans outta 10 :)) so it was never going to live up the hype. It was good, maybe 6.5 Ben Fosters playing the exact same crazed guy in every movie out 10 for me.
I thought Chris Pine was good in it, and I usually find him to be a blank slate on the level of Clive Owen.
@taniwharugby As much as I love watching Emily Blunt I found The Girl on the Train to be average as well. It seemed derivative and almost a rip off of Gone Girl even though the story isn't too similar. I'd give it 6 I wish I was watching Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow out of 10 it really should have been called All You Need is Kill.

@Nepia ha I nearly mentioned that but thought it would spoil a few gags so left it out. I went in with zero expectations and was super impressed. Haven't seen rogue one yet and am worried the hype won't live up to it.
I hope I haven't spoiled it for anyone.
I think for me the hype on Rogue One is different - it's about it being a good action/Star Wars movie ... the hype (that I got) around Hell or Highwater was in best movie of the year terms so in that respect it didn't live up to it.
