Been watching a few of my favourite youtube channels on our tv and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations? The podcast ones people put up were great.

Will be watching this one tonight, former presidential candidate Mitt Romneys relatives in Mexico live in compounds fighting off local drug cartels. Yeah, I know right?

    The Mexican Mormon War

    The Mexican Mormon War

The cartels of Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, are at war with a group of Mormons, some of whom are related to Mitt Romney.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/Documentaries/

Its just a line up of great docs. And some terrible ones.

The BBC Storyville ones tend to be good.

I watched a doco called "Barkley Marathons" on Netflix the other night on the recommendation of a couple of the guys I work with. It's not really in the same vein as anything mentioned above but its worth a watch

I'm not normally one for watching documentaries outside of anything featuring David Attenborough, but this was quite good. Its about an eccentric old guy who organises a 100 mile ultra marathon each year in Tennessee and how its turned an almost impossible run into a sought after cultlike following among ultra long distance runners around the world. It's about 90 minutes long. I don't generally care much for marathons, even less for watching documentaries about marathons, but this was really good.

That was eye-opening stuff. I'm not convinced those Iraqi guys are exactly "Special" Forces but they've got fairly large balls. The commander ("Steel" - fucking love that) seems genuine enough, but it's a shit situation.

So much distrust and suspicion. You wonder why they don't just get all the civvies out, then think it might just give ISIL an easy way to smuggle fighters out of the city.

Note that they still call them "Daesh".

The battle is still ongoing for Mosul as they try to squeeze ISIL out of what is effectively the last stronghold in the country.

Battle for Mosul: Who controls what

Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, is now the scene of a battle for control between Iraqi, Kurdish, and ISIL forces.

Yeah. It kind of fights the fear of the ignorant that Islam is this one huge tsunami of religious hatred that is just waiting to burn down the housing commission shacks in Mt Druitt, and rape and kill the slappers down at the local leagues club.

Still? Daesh is the preferred term of many western countries. There was a lot of angst about within official circles around the use of any variation of IS as they all incorporated the word 'state' which conveyed some form of official standing. There was annoyance that the media had latched on to the ISIS/ISIL/IS acronyms and made them the common form of reference.
