Hell or highwater. Great movie about 2 brothers robbing banks and a pair of Texas Rangers led by an elderly unpolitically correct Jeff Bridges and his half american Indian partner. 9 gun toting Texans outta 10

    The Girl on a Train

thought it was a decent watch, Emily Blunt stars as the alcoholic train rider person.

3 Alcoholics out of 5 train rider people

@Rembrandt You forgot the half Mexican part of the partner.

This movie was hyped to buggery before I saw it (people giving it 9 gun toting Texans outta 10 :)) so it was never going to live up the hype. It was good, maybe 6.5 Ben Fosters playing the exact same crazed guy in every movie out 10 for me.

I thought Chris Pine was good in it, and I usually find him to be a blank slate on the level of Clive Owen.

@taniwharugby As much as I love watching Emily Blunt I found The Girl on the Train to be average as well. It seemed derivative and almost a rip off of Gone Girl even though the story isn't too similar. I'd give it 6 I wish I was watching Emily Blunt in Edge of Tomorrow out of 10 it really should have been called All You Need is Kill.

@Nepia ha I nearly mentioned that but thought it would spoil a few gags so left it out. I went in with zero expectations and was super impressed. Haven't seen rogue one yet and am worried the hype won't live up to it.

I hope I haven't spoiled it for anyone.

I think for me the hype on Rogue One is different - it's about it being a good action/Star Wars movie ... the hype (that I got) around Hell or Highwater was in best movie of the year terms so in that respect it didn't live up to it.

@taniwharugby I just read the book which was fantastic. A bit worried by the Emily Blunt casting in the movie. She is supposed to be hideous and overweight due to her alcoholism and life in complete disarray. Worried they might have holywoodised the characters

Re-watched The Maltese Falcon last night. Once you get passed the dated, slightly hammy acting of some, it's a really well told story. Full of great characters with cracking noir dialogue.

Spotlight. One of the more sickening movies I've watched given it is based on actual events. How anyone takes the Catholic church seriously anymore is beyond me. 4.5 sick-as-fuck priests out of 5 investigative journalists.

@No-Quarter I had a client who was working with the victims of a priest in Levin, at first there were only three after he got convicted another dozen or so victims came forward.
