I can't work out how to search the 4000 posts in this thread, but has anyone on here watched all the seasons of the UK TV series Skins? I'm just about at the end of the 2nd season and have enjoyed it so far, but reading online it says that they replace basically all of the regular characters with new ones for the 3rd and subsequent seasons.

Kinda sounds like a recipe for disaster for me, so was wondering if any of the Ferners had seen the 3rd-7th series and could give advice on whether it's worth carrying on?

I watched all of the first change episodes (3 - 4) but I think they changed again for 5 to 7 which I didn't watch. The first change episodes were pretty good.

First 2 seasons were my favourite. But I still enjoyed the later seasons also. Definitely worth sticking with it

I've finally got round to watching season one of The Fall and thought it was bloody good. I've heard that season two isn't much cop, nothing much happens just the two antagonists mumbling all the time. Can anyone advise please?

Very late to the party, but am hammering through Peepshow at the moment. Those guys are absolutely brilliant.

Got through Last Chance U as well. Really good. Can't wait for series 2.

I found Last Chance U to be a tough watch. Really brings home the culture and the desperation involved in making it in professional sports in the US. The head coach needs professional help.

The worst part was the teachers literally bending over backwards to give the kids the marks they needed to stay in the team. While the kids refused to put in any effort what so ever.

I never could get a good read on the guidance counselor. I wanted to believe she was someone who genuinely cared about the boys, but part of me couldn't help but think she cares more about the team winning, and once they have left, she just moved on to the next batch.

I think she was totally genuine and did a fantastic job. At the end of the day, if she gets these boys to class and to graduate then she's done them an enormous service regardless of how their future football careers pan out.

The coach was a psycho, but he certainly got results. Which was all he apparently gave a shit about. He didn't seem to have much of a bond with the players.

I know very little about NFL and have never been able to get into it. But I really enjoyed those JC highlights. Maybe they lower levels are more entertaining than the big league?

Did they really get anything from the classes though? I wish they had a bit more focus on what they were actually learning. There must have been some kids in that team that actually cared about studying. They didn't show them though. They really portrayed the education part as a necessary evil for these guys.

Agree the coach was nuts and seemed to have 0 rapport with the players.

Looking forward to season 2 as well, it was compelling.

To be honest mate, I'm not sure degrees from East Mississippi Tech are particularly sought after. I also suspect that these guys are studying the kind of subjects that quality you for a position at Starbucks. But at least they are given every opportunity to get to really good colleges and to get a proper education. To me the idiotic part is that institutions that are supposed to be elite places of learning are a vital and essential part of the pro sport ladder.

I suppose schools are also pretty vital for future rugby stars as well. But Id like to think rugby schools also place more importance on the academic aspects than these colleges.

    Shannara Chronicles

Never read the books. But I'll bet they weren't aimed at a 16yo audience like this seems to be.

Its the practical things that bug me the most: yep, there is a rusty old truck in the farm yard. But that fucking thing would barely be dust if a couple of thousand years had passed.

Also, the "Hey we don't believe this big hua with all the skin carvings about the demons that clearly fucking exist!" as well as some of the "modern" dialogue. At least Serenity / Firefly put a few twists in the language.

And how come all these fucking places end up with different accents even in members of the same family? That's just bullshit.

I'm invested enough after 5 episodes to see where it goes, but I'm just a bit OCD about finishing something I started, particularly on Netflix.

Watched the first episode and probably the second when it came on whatever channel it was on here a year or so back. Gave up.

@NTA Loved the books when I read them as a teenager. Watched the series and fu*ken hated what they did to it. Still watched it though 😖

Episode 8 has humans with electricity. I'm not sure I can make it through the dance party...

The little human chick is hot enough to sustain progress.

Yep, I love the books, read many of them more than once...hated most of the series. I've read everything Brooks has done bar the Star Wars Phantom Menace book he did based on the movie.

Even TR jnr who I started reading the books with wasn't that impressed with the TV....if they make the Wishsong the murmurs are that the cast will be the same, so unsure how that will play out given Allanon is pretty much the only character that has a decent part in it from the first series.

That rave in ep8 @NTA almost made me lose my shit.

Many had misgivings about MTV teenising it, it proved to be true.

Shannara isn't as dark as LOTR but certainly isn't as bubble gum as that.

Berlin Station - CIA station, in Berlin, has a mole leaking stories and an analyst is sent in to ferret him out.

Is a bit slow, but got going about ep5, and was going well until the final 5 minutes which made for an average finale

Has a few familiar faces in it, but more ones 'what series/movie was he/she in' rather than household names, although Rhys Ifans is pretty good in his role.

3 interrogations out of 5 CIA agents

Anyone else a fan of Better Call Saul? I haven't scrolled through all of the thread to see if this series has been discussed before.

I've just finished watching both seasons and it's been fun to see all of the references to Breaking Bad (excluding main characters of course).

The Five-O episode in S1 when Mike talks about the circumstances behind his son's death and the job is one of the best episodes I've seen on TV in a long time.

Chuck has been a great character in S2 as he's changed from being someone you had some sympathy for to a manipulative piece of shit.

I'm looking forward to seeing how Gus is introduced in S3.

Really enjoyed S1, just haven't been in the right mood to start S2 but have it lined up for a binge.
Thought S1 was very high quality, enjoyed the characters better than Breaking Bad
