Kind of sad about PT.
Hopefully he comes back, looked a real talent.

@Daffy-Jaffy Is Jacob Pierce son of All Black Murray Pierce or son of not All Black Scott Pierce?

I guess this Pat T stuff may have some impact on the AB's season too. He was probably behind Romano and Scott Barrett by the end of last season but the EOYT showed how important lock depth is.

@pukunui He's at best the 5th lock, and Fifita can slot in easily as he's been with them during the EOYT. Nothing to worry about in the locking department. I'm more worried about Pat T than the ABs.

Coming in to the EOYT he had a shot at securing that 3rd locking position though.
The situation where we lost BBBR and Whitelock showed that we really can't afford to lose any of our top 5 locks for an extended period or you could be left with rookies and loosies filling in. I really don't want to see fifita starting at lock gor the ABs at this point in time. -

You seem to forget that Romano also went home because of a family bereavement. He was definitely ahead of Pat T before the EOYT. After consistent good performances from SBarrett during the EOYT, Pat T also can't count on being the 4th lock anymore.

@Stargazer I dont seem to forget anything, that was why PT & Kaino started with Barrett on the bench.
Off the bench I think PT was looking a better option than Romano, but losing 3 of our top locks at the same time was too much.
I was talking pre-EOYT too (Whitelock/BBBR with PT on bench, although the coaches always seem to like Romano) not now, since Barret has emerged, and PTs personal issues.

https://twitter.com/rugbyhack15/status/825704692365660160I watched that game, Smith was awesome - apart from that hit - or because of it

He's only 36. Couldn't believe that.
Daniel Heenan was a beast in this game too btw. Great player for the way rugby gets played over here.

Who with? That Panasonic team is actually better than the Suntory team IMO, even though they lost. They're a lot better than the Sunwolves too.... I'd reckon.

https://twitter.com/rugbyhack15/status/825704692365660160That is awesome. Before I hit play I was wondering wtf Pocock was doing standing on that side of the ruck. I guess Smith was thinking the same.

From Kyodo News:
TOKYO, Jan. 30, Kyodo Wallabies centurion Matt Giteau said on Monday he is leaving Toulon at the end of the French Top 14 season to play in Japan. While Giteau has not named a team, multiple sources have told Kyodo News the versatile 34-year-old back will sign with Suntory Sungoliath, who completed the Japanese league and cup double after beating Panasonic Wild Knights in Sunday's All-Japan Championship final. "I want to announce that at the end of this season, I will leave to play in Japan," Giteau said on his Instagram account. "Making this decision was the toughest of my rugby career but it is the best for my family to be closer to Australia." "I want to say a big thank you to the players, (who I have made lifelong friendships with), coaches, the president and staff behind the scenes since 2011. I owe a lot to you." "I also want to say a big thank you to the Toulon fans who will remain in my heart for life. The time I spent in Toulon was the best period of my rugby career." Neither Suntory nor Toulon have yet to comment. Giteau has 102 caps for Australia, according to the Australian Rugby Union, and would join his standout compatriots George Smith and David Pocock in the Top League. -

Not surprising to see him go there. Should make them a better team.
