Shannara Chronicles
Never read the books. But I'll bet they weren't aimed at a 16yo audience like this seems to be.
Its the practical things that bug me the most: yep, there is a rusty old truck in the farm yard. But that fucking thing would barely be dust if a couple of thousand years had passed.
Also, the "Hey we don't believe this big hua with all the skin carvings about the demons that clearly fucking exist!" as well as some of the "modern" dialogue. At least Serenity / Firefly put a few twists in the language.
And how come all these fucking places end up with different accents even in members of the same family? That's just bullshit.
I'm invested enough after 5 episodes to see where it goes, but I'm just a bit OCD about finishing something I started, particularly on Netflix.
Watched the first episode and probably the second when it came on whatever channel it was on here a year or so back. Gave up.

@NTA Loved the books when I read them as a teenager. Watched the series and fu*ken hated what they did to it. Still watched it though
Yep, I love the books, read many of them more than once...hated most of the series. I've read everything Brooks has done bar the Star Wars Phantom Menace book he did based on the movie.
Even TR jnr who I started reading the books with wasn't that impressed with the TV....if they make the Wishsong the murmurs are that the cast will be the same, so unsure how that will play out given Allanon is pretty much the only character that has a decent part in it from the first series.
That rave in ep8 @NTA almost made me lose my shit.
Many had misgivings about MTV teenising it, it proved to be true.
Shannara isn't as dark as LOTR but certainly isn't as bubble gum as that.

Berlin Station - CIA station, in Berlin, has a mole leaking stories and an analyst is sent in to ferret him out.
Is a bit slow, but got going about ep5, and was going well until the final 5 minutes which made for an average finale
Has a few familiar faces in it, but more ones 'what series/movie was he/she in' rather than household names, although Rhys Ifans is pretty good in his role.
3 interrogations out of 5 CIA agents

Anyone else a fan of Better Call Saul? I haven't scrolled through all of the thread to see if this series has been discussed before.
I've just finished watching both seasons and it's been fun to see all of the references to Breaking Bad (excluding main characters of course).
The Five-O episode in S1 when Mike talks about the circumstances behind his son's death and the job is one of the best episodes I've seen on TV in a long time.
Chuck has been a great character in S2 as he's changed from being someone you had some sympathy for to a manipulative piece of shit.
I'm looking forward to seeing how Gus is introduced in S3.

Really enjoyed S1, just haven't been in the right mood to start S2 but have it lined up for a binge.
Thought S1 was very high quality, enjoyed the characters better than Breaking Bad -

I really enjoyed S1, I actually found it better than all BB seasons aside from S3. But for some reason I haven't enjoyed watching S2 (and I only started on it a few weeks ago) and have actually paused it and I'm watching 11.22.63 instead. I'll pick it up again when I'm done with that.

I'm a fan of Olyphant, watched 2 episodes and don't get it. To me it's pretty shit.
It still surprises me that I like it tbf. Guess I was in the right mood for the style of humour when I started it. I find Olyphant quite funny, his physical comedy skills are great. There is some clever subtle humour among the sight gags as well.
I'm going to keep watching until it gets too 'moral'. Only one mushy moral ending so far. -
@Crucial Just watched the first 4 eps of this and I have to say the boss and I are just really enjoying it.
As you say Crucial, silly, funny and gory. I love how it pokes fun of middle suburban America and the way TV normally portrays such families.
Very enjoyable and I highly recommend it.
We'll finish binge watching the rest later today with a few glasses of a nice chilled rose which I think would accompany this very well. Especially since Sydney will be sweltering yet again today after 41 degrees yesterday!

Ricky and Morty.
Animated show that's kind of a send up of the Back to the Future Films, except Doc (Rick) is a foulmouthed drunk and Marty (Morty) is his very uncool, mildly retarded sidekick grandson.
Farking brilliant show. Adult Swim do some really cool shit.

hope this is as good as it has potential to be, co-incidentally I am in the middle of reading the book, SS-GB by Len Deighton
Not too disimilar to Man in the High Castle I guess except without the fantasy aspect.
I've watched 3 eps of Taboo which took a bit to get going, but am enjoying it.

I tried last night (first ep) but maybe I was just tired. Just couldn't get into it. The main character wasn't engaging at at all.
I was looking forward to it as well. Might have to try again.
