Justified has two 13 episodes seasons so far, and has been renewed for a third season.

Hey Rusty - do you have any new series recommendations?

I'm actually really enjoying the USA Network bright (lit) shows at the moment (Burn Notice, Covert Affairs, White Collar) even though I suspect it is uncool to.

I would like a really engrossing show to use as my Exercycle show (I cycle while I watch) but none of the ones I've been watching have really grabbed me. I quite like Fringe but not enough as a cycle show. And I fine it weird how they made the main lady less attractive in the series than she was in the pilot.

USA just started two more series following their usual template. Suits, and Necessary Roughness. Of the two, Suits looks the better, but they only have aired 1 or 2 episodes of both, so pretty early to judge. You know neither will win an Emmy, but probably will be light and somewhat entertaining.

I am really not watching anything else new. Not too much on this summer. Waiting for the new season of Breaking Bad, Rescue Me, Entourage, Curb Your Enthusiasm etc to start in a couple of weeks. Also, am finally watching Sports Night. Had the files for over 3 years, just never had the time.

Cheers Rusty - I saw Suits on EZTV and was wondering whether to give it a look.

I've never really got into Curb Your Enthusiasm and indeed my enthusiasm for Seinfeld has waned markedly recently. I rewatched about 10 eps recently (3rd time round) and have to say it was a struggle. Scarily I think that friends has aged better.

What do you think of Sportsnight?

I watched the first ep of Suits and thought it was pretty good - typical USA formula of cocky guy, not so cocky guys and a decent looking woman! On that, I think that Burn Notice and White Collar need to come up with arcs pretty soon because they're a little bit too formulaic at the moment. In the case of White Collar a better arc than the Nazi loot.

Spys, detectives and lawyers seem to be the extent of the USA Networks writers' capabilities <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />.

I watched the first 2 episodes of some alien invasion show "Falling Skies" last week. To anyone who may have seen it, does it get any better?

I'm gonna wait til the season is finished then download the lot. It pisses me off when I have to wait a week between episodes.

I think True Blood has lost it's way just a little, seems as though when they're short on ideas they just through in a different kind of supernatural being. Still love the characters they've created and the whole feel of the show.

Caught the new Man vs Wild the other day, the one shot in NZ.
Never gotten into the show, was just curious to see how challenging he would find it here. Was dropped near the Southern Alps and had to trek across to the West Coast. Obviously no predators to worry about, just the tricky conditions he had to go through.
Caught and ate a possum, that was about it really.

Currently watching a short series "The Borgias" about Pope Alexander VI and his family using the papalcy to basically do what he wants. Gods work you understand. its pretty good, the family are pretty ruthless, and there are some seriously unlikeable characters. Jeremy Irons is, as ever, excellent.

The absolute worst show on TV at the moment (even worse than Covert Affairs) is the Criminal Minds spin off "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour". Forrest Whitaker is some sort of black, lazy-eyed, psychic ninja who apparently solves crimes and tracks down bad guys just by existing, or making wild assumptions based on fuck all, that always apparently work out. He has a team who don't appear to do anything to help (Janeane Garofalo is fucking poorly cast, i have never seen an actor look less comfortable holding a gun) but appear to be fairly ordinary eye-candy (seriously, the supposed hot chick does absolutely nothing, while the good looking pommy guy was apparently some marine scout-sniper in a previous life, perfectly setting him up to be an FBI investigator). Its horrible, don't be sucked in by the "Criminal Minds" bit, it isn't a patch on the original. Worst. Spin-off. Ever.
