Yeah think should dry up from 6ish but its been pissing down this morning and heaviest rain is forecast from 12 through 4pm

I'm calling that it will be all done. the Metservice forecast is from 4am -- I prefer the MetVuw that shows little to no rain in the evening.

you heard it here first folks 🙂 Optimism abounds

edit: I mean that there will be play, possibly a reduced match, but still play

Yeah i follow windguru and its looks clear this evening. Even had a period of rain with no clouds late this arvo which I struggle to believe.

Did have a nice fine patch before but raining again now albeit lightly.

    Fingers crossed

How many overs can T20 get reduced to? Hopefully not just a super over....

Shows the difference in quality of grounds between Napier and Eden Park. Here in Auckland we have had 24 hours of rain, overnight and early this morning it fair bucketed down.

So... it's been raining all day on and off.

Hoping that it's all cleared now and we're on for tonight. I'm still optimistic

Hope so - certainly looking like it from the SA side anyway.

Right now we're going to be chasing 200 if we don't pick up a bunch of wickets.

The Trent Boult and Assorted Muppets Show so far.

Let's hope Ronchi bats a damn sight better than his keeping tonight.

Yeah - I mean, seriously - how can you have a squad of international bowlers...tasked with bowling four overs each...and most of them can't avoid spraying it down leg side...repeatedly?

It's a good thing Sir Paddles and Chats are still alive - otherwise they'd be spinning in their graves.

    That's just fucking hopeless!!!!

Boult 4 overs, 2/8 when the innings as a whole is going at 9 runs per over!

BCs did well to restrict them to 185, they were looking like getting well over 200 there for a while.
Going to be (hopefully) good watching this run chase.
Looking forward to seeing Phillips in action, heard great things.

Yeah - we've got some batting power, so if the deck is true we should be able to go close - or completely self-destruct...though that's part of the game.

I don't really understand our bowling plan at all. Surely the last thing you want to bowl is a ball short of the length on off stump e.g. the first ball of Southee's final over. I think I'd rather see a half volley.

If you can't bowl a yorker, do you really have much business bowling in T20?

Yorker...a foot outside off stump...not many places you can hit it. Yorker on the stumps as another variation. Gives the batsman much more to think about.

    Fuck.
Munro misses a half volley first ball and is bowled.
    Fuck.
    Fuck.

Where the fuck is Martin Guptil when you need him?
    Ross Taylor anyone?
