Interesting to see Ardie is clearly much bigger and taller than Kaino.

@Bovidae dunno who it was I was listening too on RS this morning about 10.45am but he was an Aussie and he was saying the 5.30 NZT kick off in NZ (obviously with NZ teams) got higher ratings than the 7.35 in Aus kick off time.

@taniwharugby might have a bit to do with all the Kiwis living in Aussie? I meet very few Aussies who bother to watch Super rugby.

@Crazy-Horse Ironically, I know more Aussies in HK that watch super rugby than watch NRL / AFL combined.

Who is Masaga injury cover for?

There are a few backs out with long-term injury, so it could be for any of them?

    • Sam McNicol (concussion; since the end of last SR season; missed entire Mitre10 Cup season)
    • Charlie Ngatai (no explanation needed)
    • Glen Fisiiahi (knee reconstruction; out since June 2016)

Also injured is Chase Tiatia (broken ankle; out since October 2016) but in November they expected him to be back in March.

Cheers @Stargazer I thought there was a recent one I wasn't aware of.

Maybe they felt they needed another hungus now that Augie has gone?

@Crucial Can't remember hearing about a recent injury, but that doesn't mean there isn't one ...

    @Stargazer @Crucial
It might not be anyone in particular as the Chiefs like to run a large squad. We'll find out who is unavailable through injury tomorrow.

@Milk Yes, and his recovery time was - at the time - estimated to be 9 months. If all has gone well, he should be back soon.

Things change all the time, and hopefully some of these names can be scratched as soon as this week's line-ups are named, but this is my current list of injuries:

@Stargazer Cape Town - The Chiefs have announced the arrival of former wing Lelia Masaga, who returns to the side as a back-up option should injuries strike.

Masaga, who left the franchise in 2013 after having made 91 Super Rugby appearances, has been playing his rugby in Japan in recent seasons.

But he is now back in Hamilton, with head coach Dave Rennie admitting the finisher is a decent back-up to have on their books during this year.

"Lelia's a good man so he could well feature (later in the campaign) if we get some injuries," coach Rennie told TVNZ of the 30-year-old wing.

Reports are that Kurtley Beale is returning to Australia at the end of the current English season. They say he will sign with the Tahs with the 2019 RWC a huge goal. Great news for Super Rugby.
