Finally got around to watching The Wrath of Khan again. Brilliant still
Critics said Ricardo Montalban couldn't possibly reach the giddy heights of thespian brilliance he did with 'Fantasy Island'......
....and he didn't.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople was a really nice little movie wasn't it? I loved it, and so did the wife even though she didn't get a bunch of it

Yeah watched that with the family a couple of weeks ago and they loved it. Little pearler of a film.
Just watched The Good Guys with Crowe and Gosling. Pretty damn good.

"Spotlight"
How do you "enjoy" a movie about that?
5 investigative journalists out of 5 deviant Catholic priests, fucking arseholes.

OK, finally watched Rogue One and I'm pleased I waited. I felt no sense of suspense or wonderment. Just seemed all samey. Best bit was Darth fucking people up, but then that's always the best bit.

I watched Rogue 1, I'd give it 3.5 Dumb Storm Troopers out of 5 Fish Admirals
Thought the blind Ninja Jedi did well knocking all those helmeted Storm Troopers out with one blow too, mean as!

I discovered my better half had never seen The Matrix which is outrageous as IMO it's the most important documentary ever made.
Still holds up bloody well, Keanu Reeves was the fucking man back then. 5 red pills out of 5 AI agents.

@No-Quarter Best. Movie. Ever.

Absolutely agree, absolutely cracker of a movie, just don't watch parts 2 and 3 to ruin the experience.
BTW, I disagree with the statement that Keanu was the fucking man back then which implies he is no longer of relevance.
One of my absolute favorite recent movies was "John Wick" which has been followed up by a sequel unsurprisingly titled "John Wick 2" which has yet to be released in Aus and I'm not sure about NZ.
After the first John Wick movie, Keanu "star" has been on the rise again including the recent announcement of another Matrix Sequal.
BTW, as I didn't do a John Wick review here, I will say to anyone, do yourself a favour and watch this. It was a sleeper hit and turned into a movie with a massive cult following hence the anticipation for JW2.
4.75 former assassins out of 5 russian mobsters
The only thing that stopped me from giving it a 5 out of 5 was the final car chase/big fight which was a bit stupid and little disappointing, but only a little. One of the funny things about the first John Wick movie was one of the main bad guys is none other than Game of Thrones Theon Greyjoy. His character is a real dick in this movie so quite fitting that his character had his removed in GoT!
Just did a quick Google search and finally... John Wick: Chapter 2 will be released in Australia (and New Zealand) on April 20th.

@RoninWC I saw Matrix: Reloaded on the IMAX screen in New Orleans when it was released. That was an experience with all the action on such a large screen. My head hurt by the end.
Agree, John Wick is a really good movie. I'm looking forward to the sequel. For fans of The Wire, you'll recognise a couple of familiar faces.

John Wick is fucking great. Wall to wall mooks getting shot in the face.
The freeway scene in Reloaded is fucking ace, and i watch it over and over. I have seen Revolutions maybe twice.

m4l, John Wick was one of those surprise movies that you watch without any advance hype or anything and you just sit there and go "holly shit how good is this!".
I've watched a few YouTube videos on how Keanu trained for both movies in Krav Maga, martial art, and he spent an extraordinary amount of time and effort on weapons training so that everything he did with the weapons he handles in the movies comes across as completely natural and believable.
He was always an actor which I enjoyed in some of his movies, Speed, Matrix, etc but couldn't stand in others. But watching John Wick and then the YouTube videos gave me a much greater respect and admiration for someone who gets so completely immersed in his character and dedicates so much time and effort into his craft.
All due respect to Keanu for his complete dedication to his art.
As an aside, I'm a bit of a gun buff and really enjoy reading and watching anything with "cool" guns and/or military stuff. For those of you who haven't seen this, there is a Wiki site which gives all the details about the weapons used in pretty much any movie or even PC/Console game.
So if you ever see a weapon or weapons in a movie like 13 Hours or John Wiki and go "wow, cool, what sort of gun is that?" there is a place to go...
A potential waste of hours perusing this site for those interested in such things
