@Bovidae said in NH club rugby:

Leicester Tigers have sacked Aaron Mauger as head coach and immediately replaced him with Australian coach Matt O'Connor.

And this just after he's one some silverware, the Anglo-Welsh Cup, mind you the spirit of this comp is that it's a development competition and they fielded a pretty strong line up.

OK so they beat my local side so I may be a little bitter, but...

I haven't seen many positive comments on the sacking of Mauger (or the timing of it).
This is how a few Leicester Tigers' players responded on social media:

Telusa Veainu: With 5 games to go, really?? We don't know how good we've got it! #biggerpicture #gutted

Mike Williams: We've lost a good man..

This post from Colin Slade seems to imply that he's out for the season. Does anyone know what the Top 14 protocols for head knocks are exactly?

@Stargazer Don't know exactly, but I read somewhere that it was his third concussion this season and thus been sat down. So seems it is three strikes and you are out? Reasonable, probably two would suffice if they are in a short span.

Racing Metro are switched on today, 20 - 0 over Clermont coming up to half time. Try to Masoe and a few goals to Carter, decent game.

Great game at the RDS in the sunshine. Leinster just pip Cardiff to the win 22-21 and puts them back on top of the table.

Hayden Triggs is a warrior player given the year he and his family have had. Should get a big farewell in the last home game of the season.

Glasgow up 10-5 in a free running against Connacht at Scotstoun.

A bit harem scarem as both sides throwing the ball around and the offside line being ignored with two rush defences.

                        Why blow the whistle?

How moronic of the team with the ball.

La Rochelle really is the surprise package this season. Leading the Top 14 table, and now through to the European Challenge Cup semis (for the first time). I wonder how much that is due to having Victor Vito in the team; because Top 14 games are not televised in NZ, I've only watched a limited number of Top 14 games online, so I can't possibly tell.

I watched the last 30 mins. Vito did some good things but didn't look as dynamic around the field as he was in NZ.

I think TKB will make a big difference as both La Rochelle halfbacks looked ordinary.

Anyone else watching Leinster vs Wasps? Kurtley Beale with an absolutely scintillating break to put Le Roux away - who dropped it over the line. Otherwise Leinster a class above so far, just steamrolling what is currently the top side of the English championship. Cipriani has been woeful for Wasps.

Good game from Leinster with their young team starting to make waves. They'll be away in France against Clermont or Toulon for the semis which may be a step too far for them this season, but top of the league and one game away from the European final is a good place to be after their horror show last year.

Great win from Saracens. Gutsy effort from the Glasgow Warriors not reflected in the score, but they were in it for most of the first half; lost it in the second. Saracens 38 - 13 Glasgow (HT 14-3)

Excellent win from Clermont over Toulon! Toulon had nothing on attack. It looked to become a low scoring game, but Clermont dominated most of it and were finally rewarded with a couple of good tries. 29-9 to the yellow and blues (HT 6-6).

Semi-finals: Clermont v Leinster in Lyon and Munster v Saracens in Dublin.
