Went to see the Pixies last night ... finally, I've been trying to see them 20+ for years.
Really good, but short concert. It's amazing that a band so inert on stage play such frantic music.
Next up is Living Colour in May! I'm slowly covering of all my favourite early 90s bands.
Living Color, when and where?
May 13 at the Metro - flick me a PM if you want to come along.
Incredible musos. Vernon Reid and Doug Wimbesh are both awesome axe slingers.

Yep, as was Muzz Skillings - who apparently is still on good terms with the band and fills in for Wimbush on occasion.
Corey Glover was good in Platoon too :).

This is my nephew's new song and video. Released last week and been picked up by a few radio stations.
Very summery, pretty catchy, very New Zealand. Might do quite well.
My contribution, if any, was helping to instill the right values - including recognizing that the great Kiwi road trip can only be enhanced by bikini-clad Swedish girls!

Went and saw Spiderbait on the weekend (mainly so Mrs Mariner could relive her uni days), they are touring their album Ivy and the Big Apples, playing it right through. They were fucking great, and I've had the album on loop since last week
Calypso is probably my favourite
But this is pretty fucking great too

@mariner4life Violent Femmes were at Tweed Heads last Friday.

@antipodean go the throw-back tours. I'm off to Regurgitator in a couple of weeks!
-
@antipodean Did they play at Twin Towns? If I'd have known I would have gone up last week for work rather than next.
I saw them once at a big day out but my ride decided to leave mid set so I didn't get the full experience.

Saw these guys supporting Paul Weller at the Royal Albert last week and have been listening to their stuff all weekend. Came out of work last night to find them playing an album launch in the record shop downstairs so stopped for a beer and a listen. this is an older track but their new album has a few collabs with Weller and some guest vocals by Bettye Lavette and William Bell.
Please excuse the poor filming and sound but was a spur of the moment filming -

Been listening to a bit of Travelling Wilburys of late
Roy Orbisos vocals in this are exceptional
I bought the deluxe version of the album when it was reissued. It has a DVD of the making of the album.
A very autobiographical song written by the Quiet Beatle.
