@MN5 the supernatural didn't really show up late in the piece though, and I can see what they were trying to do, which I think they did poorly and agree it came off more supernatural than the possibilities of what the human brain is or could be capable of.

@MN5 It seems like you missed whole parts of the movie. The main girl in it was trying to manipulate the weaker personalities and the other did try to simply up and leave.

At any rate, the sequel for this and Unbreakable is coming in 2019.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is pretty good. Might have a better story than the first one, and the humour is still there.

The Marvel movies are getting trippy from here on out, as the Thanos end game comes closer.

    Angry Birds

You have to go into this movie with the correct expectations - that the story line will be shit, with absolutely no emotional engagement, and that all it will be good for is making kids laugh when the birds fling themselves into things.

To that end it fulfilled my expectations with the boy (4 years old) pissing himself laughing at times, especially towards the end when they attack pig village.

2.5 anger management classes out of 5 fat green pigs.

I think you mentioned once that you don't like super hero movies

Saw it last night, it was awesome. Maybe even better than the first.

    Just watched 'Tickled'

Doco about a kiwi journalists investigation into 'Competitive tickling' and the increasingly crazy stuff he discovered.

    Absolutely fascinating.

    Alien and Aliens.....

Have caught both on the big screen lately, the word classic barely does them justice, fuck they're great flicks and so different from eachother, the first essentially being a horror set in space while the second is an action flick in space. I probably prefer the second one overall but I do love the references to Prometheus from the first and the fact that they're so helpless given they're not exactly heavily armed. John Hurts death scene is outstanding and Ash is such a cock which makes it so endearing how Bishop redeems androids and saves the day at the end in the second one. Hudson's one liners are so brilliantly 80s too.

The next two flicks are decent but don't compare.

Guardians Vol 2: Awesome. One of the funniest movies I've seen for a while and had a good enough story. The younging down of Kurt Russell in the opening scene was the best I've seen so far.

The only issue I found with it was the soundtrack wasn't as good as last time - I can't even remember the tune of the main song.

    The Way Back

A Peter Weir film based on a book (of questionable veracity) about four people who escape a Siberian gulag and walk thousands of miles to India.

Long - at 2 hours probably more than what it needed. The bits in the Siberian cold were fairly short, but then the Siberian spring was drawn out a little, as was the Mongolian desert. Then the Tibetan bit was pretty much skipped over and BAM! Straight to India.

In any case, beautifully shot, good music, well acted. Bit parts from Mark Strong, Colin Farrell and Saoirse Ronan. Solid work by Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess, and some random dudes.

I thought the soundtrack was great , mr blue sky in the epic opening scene and chains by Fleetwood mac got two appearances do I guess that makes it the main song.
Nicely tied the story into the first one too.

Also Zoe Saldana continues to be hot even when she's green and a badass .

Apparently that's because it's mostly not CGI for Kurt, it's practical effects (makeup, etc) and they just smoothed a few wrinkles. Apparantly, the CGI boffin looked at footage of Kurt and said we don't need to do much with him. Good genes I guess!

saw Guardians yesterday. Loved it. Piss funny, has the same heart as the first, good action scenes, and i liked the story (even if it was a rip-off of a Futurama episode...). I thought the soundtrack was fucking great (my youngest really liked "My Sweet Lord"). That's two crackers from this group, making it the best franchise in the Marvel Universe.

    Chris Pratt is fucking great.

4.5 crappy villain nicknames out of 5 golden hotties

Last night watched "X-Men: Apocalypse". Not too bad. It's a bit long, so there is too much filler, but it had a decent villain, and Fassbender's Magneto is probably the best character in Marvel. Quicksilver is good as well. But McAvoy is a whiney bitch.

    That's cool.

@jegga I don't remember Fleetwood Mac (not a fan anyway) and I think the main song is Brandy.

@mariner4life I wonder if Futurama ripped off the comic initially? I don't know, as I've never read it.

I assume 'Brandy...you're a fine girl' and not the classic 'Brandy' by Bunny Walters?
