I always wonder what the world according to vegans would look like.
If we aren't consuming animal products most of the animals become redundant. No where to store them until old age would result in mass slaughter and waste as the land was turned to growing whatever trendy superfood is in vogue.
The only good thing would be that the idiot from MKR with his paleo nonsense would slowly starve snacking on activated almonds.

The entire evolution of humans hinged on eating meat. Otherwise the world would have looked like this

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, who i normally find incredibly irritating, considered the issue of vegetablism in his book entitled MEAT. He actually made some valid points mainly relating to what happens to all the animals? Leaving aside factory farming, for which he has no time at all, at present the animals are being well cared for, fed regularly, kept safe from predators, medicated where necessary. Who will take on this burden for millions of cows, sheep, pigs etc if the world turns vegetablist? You can't expect the farmers to do it out of the goodness of their hearts. Maybe we should place a high tax on alfalfa sprouts to pay for the mass genocide of these animals - for their own good of course.

Don't worry, the moment this current fad/marriage fizzles the plastic bags will be popped straight back in. Just in time to impress the next rich/old/famous/rich man she latches onto.
She seems to alter herself to suit which sucker shes conned into marrying her.

@Virgil that article didn't really say a hell of a lot in the end. The segregation in Auckland is based on wealth rather than race - like any major city really. Some groups, like Pacific Islanders, are over represented in the poorer communities which leads to it looking like racial segregation, but it is really a symptom of an underlying issue.

My better half's experience in Auckland after coming from a small town in NZ is that racism is basically non-existent up here.

I'd really like to think that study over exaggerates the situation. They refer to 'neighborhoods' with no explanation of what they count as one. If they are using density (eg 500 people make a neighbourhood) then obviously the denser lower socio economic areas will make up a lot of these.
I grew up in South Auckland and back then you could have said the same things as this study. There were the 'Remuera' types and the 'Otara' types that really didn't cross over but alongside that were places like Manurewa that (at the time) had a complete mix of housing and income levels and cultures with the majority of kids and families mixing together at school or the shops. Roger Douglas lived over our back fence and families were just as likely to be business owners with flash houses and swimming pools as they were factory workers or beneficiaries in State Houses
I know some of those places have changed but then others have developed. Howick gets a rap as being an Asian community but it is actually quite mixed with various cultures living side by side.
Anyway, it isn't to do with where you live, it's whether you treat people equally and I still think NZ is very good in that regard.

Firms like that are a result of the bullshit degrees that get handed out a universities these days. People that leave Uni with things like Gender Studies degrees have to create work for themselves somehow.

@No-Quarter Sad but true. At college when Ms Cato No1 had flunked her course and was considering a different "journey". Her tutor advised me to avoid anything that had the word "studies" in it as it was felt that they were invariably doss courses.

Apologies to anyone out there that might get triggered by this assertion.

Ha! That's why I don't even have a degree. I started on one that would have ended up being called 'Social Sciences' and I couldn't see how on earth that was going to help me more than actually going into the world and doing things. so I quit.

It pisses me off that I live in a world where this is considered a viable career.

It pisses me off even more that someone actually pays someone to do this. Again, the energy drink company apologised for any perceived slight but that still isn't enough for those whinging fluffybunnies.
