@MN5 did you ever read about Vincent Wards original idea for the third movie?

Wooden World: Vincent Ward’s Alien III

Wooden World: Vincent Ward’s Alien III

After three years, three different screenwriters and an assortment of drafts and directors, Alien III finally began to take some crude sort of shape. Plot and design elements were beginning to take…

As the article I shared states I reckon part of its awesomeness is the differences between each one....that idea woulda been cool.

Yeah, Ward is an interesting choice damn shame it never happened. The third one that was made wasn't too bad it just pales in comparison to the first two.

Fair call. 3 and 4 are good flicks it's just the first couple are legendary

    DISCLAIMER

In my humble opinion which may differ from some others.

That scene in four where that fucked up alien human hybrid thing with Michael Jacksons nose was fucking horrifying the first time I saw it.

You seen this? Its equally fucked up.

Without reading the link i assume it talks about a planet made of wood, inhabitanted by monks?
It was passed on by a few directors including Ward
In the end an unknown (except for making music videos) called David Fincher directed it. Don't think it even had a completed script when he began
Must have been a shit experience because to this day he refuses to acknowledge it's existence.
I thought it wasn't that bad, just a dark and pretty depressing movie.

@Virgil Ward wrote the wooden planet script, then it got rewritten hence the loose ends in it. Checkout the comments for some über nerd going all BSG about the article.

    Watched "Legend" last night.

It was only okay. It's worth watching for Tom Hardy alone, who is fucking excellent. Two characters, same movie, both different, and both played really well.

It's funny in parts, it's very fucking violent in parts, but overall it's not well written or paced. I liked that we jumped straight to the Crays being a thing, and we didn't go through the usual back-story, growing up poor bullshit. But events just seemed to happen throughout the movie.
Here are our bad guys, the rival gang, look how bad they are. How will the Crays beat them? Oh, well, that was easy.
The cops are on to them, this guys is relentless, how will they out wit them? Oh, well, that was pretty easy.
Look how succesful they are, how will they fuck it up? Well, that didn't take much.
    Aaaaand, they're fucked now.
    Roll credits.

There was a fucking good movie in there, wanting to get out. Deciding to tell it from his missus' point of view was a fucking mistake, as it really seemed like the movie didn't know what it wanted to be.

It's lucky Tom Hardy carries the movie on 4 shoulders, because there are a lot of characters who have a lot of screen time who you won't even remember their names.

    3 Tom Hardy's out of 5 Tom Hardy's

    Hopefully this link works!

It should look the same and have callbacks, so am happy with that. People are still pissed off about the TFA I see 🙂

Ha yep first thing I thought of was TFA.
Never had a problem then and don't have one now. Makes alot of sense to link the original with the remake/sequel

    Alien Covenant.

I wrote a review last night but someone deleted it for some reason.

Decent enough but probably had as much bad as good overall. Part Prometheus/Part Alien seems an apt description.

( in saying that naturally I'll watch it again and again )

2.5 bad synthetics out of 5 good ones

    London Has Fallen

    So explosions. Many deathkill.

Fabulous light entertainment for a Thursday night. I could even ignore the scale of the bullshit for once, and just enjoy Butler fucking up bad guys with a knife.

3.5 out of 5 terrorist cockwombles dying in a ball of fire.

    The Replacements

Entertaining popcorn american football movie about a strike. Starred Keanu (I can't act) Reeves, Gene (I've done this movie before) Hackman and Jon Favreau amongst others.

Lightweight, entertaining, predictable but enjoyable. Extra points for Welsh jokes.

Three and a half unexpected endings out of five welsh accents

That character takes so much deadpan joy in murdering the bad guys it's impossible not to enjoy. Very much an 80s throwback.

I loved the look on the Presidents face when he first killed the cop.

De Palma's Body Double is so good. Pino Donaggio's soundtrack is great (love the Risky Business parody track), and the music video for Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Relax is sublime.

That does look decent. As a side note fuck all the paranoid fuckheads who say the world is so much more dangerous now than in years past. Only difference is social media means we see heaps more of it nowadays.

I love the story about the guy who did the autopsy on the terrorists, one of them was at the top of a staircase and shooting him might have also injured or killed a hostage so they shoulder charged him down the stairs. Unfortunately for him he landed at the feet of three SAS guys who emptied their magazines into him. The guy doing the autopsy pulled out 50 bullets and gave upand said " fuck it, if I pull out anymore I'll have to put down lead poisoning as cause of death".
