Movie review thread...

yeah Clive Owen certainly didnt make me believe he was as tough as his character was supposed to be...

I tend to rate 'true stories' with a different measure, as they can so easily be blah as they are just telling a story.

Killer Elite, like Bravo Two Zero will have a bit of poetic licence involved as the British MIlitary don't really things coming out about the SAS Ops. -
Watched Human Centipede and Human Centipede 2 back to back the other night. Not sure what I think of them yet, but I am glad I saw them. I love twisted minds. They aren't for everyone, the sequal pushes the boundaries a lot more than the first.

I thought the actor that plays Martin was brilliant... -
watched The Debt; Helen Mirren, Tom Wilkinson, Sam Worthington

Thought it was a bit slow and all a little bit average. -

I came into it half way through and it seemed alright. Perhaps that's the secret? -
I'd not say worst, possibly luckiest? LOFTY GGR

I've been on a small movie watching binge:

Captain America: Chris Evans and Tommy Lee Jones. Competent comic book movie, although they messed up the CGI when he was puny - especially in the car, he grew and shrunk with each cut and angle. Chris Evans actually impresses me as an actor when I'm unsure if he should. I actually believe his characters.

Crazy, Stupid, Love: Steve Carrell, Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, and Julianne Moore. Pretty good rom com type movie with some pretty funny parts, a decent story hindered by an obvious twist.

Drive: Ryan Gosling. Wow, I'm really confused about this movie. On the one hand I really enjoyed it, on the other hand the existential-ness of it just pissed me off. I thought it was a good story which would have been better without the number of long slow motion scenes. Critics love it, but probably for the opposite reasons that I do.

30 Minutes or Less: Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, the indian guy from Parks and Rec, and a hot indian chick. A heist comedy with Jesse Eisenberg kidnapped, had a bomb strapped to him and forced to rob a bank. I thought it was bloody funny. It's the only time the parks and rec guy hasn't annoyed the hell out of me. And the indian chick is stunning.

Centurion: McNulty from the Wire and Michael Fassbender. Story of the legendary Roman 9th Legion who went missing in Northern England/Scotland. Pretty good action film.

The Guard: Brendon Gleeson and Don Cheadle. A small town irish policeman helps the FBI hunt some drug smugglers. This was bloody funny, Gleeson is hilarious and Cheadle is basically good in anything he does. -
Bought and watched The Mark Of Zorro from 1940 with Tyrone Power . A bit cheesy and the actors had a bit of swagger about them as they did in those days . Bloody good , the way a classic old movie should be .

Cowboys & Aliens (& Indians/Native Americans) - what you expect is what you get; cowboys, aliens, indians, shooting, western landscapes

Mongols - having just finished Wolf of the Plains, was keen to watch this, it alos had some good reviews. However, I am a little conflicted, the film states it is based on leading historical accounts and the book is pretty much a translation of a phonetic Chinese version, given there was little recorded history of the events in the life of Temujin/Genghis. While there are alot of similarities these 2 stories of his life, are still quite different (varying names aside as this is explained in the book as to his reason for name changes) I think I liked it, but was sitting there wondering if I'd have enjoyed it more had I not read the book or if I'd of enjoyed the book as much had I watched the movie first. -
This looks pretty epic
That cast is nothing short of obscene, and I mean that in the best possible way. Bruce Willis must look at the rest of those explosive, greased up muscleheads and wonder how the fuck he ended up that echelon of action hero much like Ringo Starr wondered how he ended up in the Beatles. -
Got around to "Senna". Excellent

Just watched "Winter of Wells the Documentary" about Wanaka's Wells family. Good mixture of a family story and brilliant skiing cinematography by Local film maker Tim Pierce. The shots following Byron down the half pipe using a remote control helicam are awesome. -
Catch 44; Bruce Willis (more an extended cameo role) Forrest Whittaker and Malin Akerman (only good thing about the movie) - rubbish! Don't waste your time!

He can thank Cybill Shepherd (she got him the part in Moonlighting because he was cute). -
The Inbetweeners Movie: If you like the TV series then you'll love the movie! (If you haven't seen the series then watch it now). Some may criticise it for being too bright/happy etc but I think it was a great way to finish. There were some great laugh out loud scenes and I was in fits of laughter to the point of choking in some stages.

Really glad that the movie lived up to the show! -

The first one wasnt bad, an odd mix of good dialogue alongside really fucking awful lines. I did like the digs at each others movies, though.
