London Has Fallen
So explosions. Many deathkill.
Fabulous light entertainment for a Thursday night. I could even ignore the scale of the bullshit for once, and just enjoy Butler fucking up bad guys with a knife.
3.5 out of 5 terrorist cockwombles dying in a ball of fire.

The Replacements
Entertaining popcorn american football movie about a strike. Starred Keanu (I can't act) Reeves, Gene (I've done this movie before) Hackman and Jon Favreau amongst others.
Lightweight, entertaining, predictable but enjoyable. Extra points for Welsh jokes.
Three and a half unexpected endings out of five welsh accents

That character takes so much deadpan joy in murdering the bad guys it's impossible not to enjoy. Very much an 80s throwback.
I loved the look on the Presidents face when he first killed the cop.

This could be good
That does look decent. As a side note fuck all the paranoid fuckheads who say the world is so much more dangerous now than in years past. Only difference is social media means we see heaps more of it nowadays.

I love the story about the guy who did the autopsy on the terrorists, one of them was at the top of a staircase and shooting him might have also injured or killed a hostage so they shoulder charged him down the stairs. Unfortunately for him he landed at the feet of three SAS guys who emptied their magazines into him. The guy doing the autopsy pulled out 50 bullets and gave upand said " fuck it, if I pull out anymore I'll have to put down lead poisoning as cause of death".

Alien Covenant.
I wrote a review last night but someone deleted it for some reason.
Decent enough but probably had as much bad as good overall. Part Prometheus/Part Alien seems an apt description.
( in saying that naturally I'll watch it again and again )
2.5 bad synthetics out of 5 good ones
Watched it today since I didn't want to go to a bbq with people I don't like.
Never been that into the Aliens franchise but did enjoy the original trilogy.
Alien Covenant tries to hark back to those movies however you don't really connect with any of the crew in this one and don't really care if/when they die. Also, the twists and plot lines were way too predictable.
Two and a half "Get Away From Her You Bitch" out of five "Get Away From Her You Bitch". -
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Very enjoyable alrhough not quite as good as the first. A little too much going on. Rocket not quite as likeable. Sound track not as good. Didn't like what happened to Yondu. Still good though.
4 mutant raboons out of 5 baby tree creatures

Kung Fu Panda 3.
Watched this with the boy and newphew over the weekend. I didn't really like the first two so had low expectations, but this was actually pretty cool. Decent storyline and plenty of funny moments that had the boys cracking up. They both spent the rest of the night practising their Kung Fu moves on each other.
4 dumplings out of 5 fat rolling Panda's.

Damn, in my head I instantly thought of Wings Hauser's face then clicked Powers Boothe.
Re: Deadwood. He was the original choice for Al Swearagen but got sick before filming so couldn't take the role - so David Milch said he'd create a role for him when he got well aagin.
-
Just browsing IMDb. I wasn't aware of this about Deadwood.
The role of Al Swearengen was originally written for Ed O'Neill. O'Neill screen tested for the role but HBO executives did not want to cast him because of his fame as Al Bundy from Married with Children (1987).
I just couldn't imagine Ed in that role.

and McShane nailed the role of Swearengen, cant imagine anyone else being as good!
Isnt there a Deadwood movie in the pipelines?

There's been a movie in the pipelines for 10 years now. I'd be surprised if it happened now.
Unlike many, I thought that it actually ended ok, it may not have been the planned ending, but it was an ending.
