No and I'd have preferred a NZ eligible player (did someone say Whetu Douglas is off to Europe?).

But I see the odd player from a minnow country being us doing our bit.

What I will say, and highlighted in a post below, is that I have less of an issue if overseas players that are signed for Super rugby are also playing in the NPC.

To answer your question, Ardron seems to have been signed as a lock. With BBBR, Bird and Allardice all signed for next year and beyond perhaps Seu has been poached back by the Blues.

I also assume that Cooper is behind this signing as he will be the Chiefs coach.

I guess it makes a bit of sense as a lock but I sure as hell hope Seu hasn't been poached. Could be replacing Tucker instead, I guess, though that'd be pretty shit news cause he's a really promising player.

And yeah booboo, Whetu Douglas is off to Italy on a 2 season contract though he has an out clause after one season. I think there was talk of the Chiefs and Saders being interested in signing him after that season.

My view on foreign player being given Super rugby contracts are probably pretty well known after recently discussing Leitch.
This signing is just as much of a joke.
How is signing a journeyman canadian good for New Zesland rugby? There is no star crowd pulling power that someone like Nadolo argueably had. This is just taking up a valueable spot of a NZ player when we are already getting raided by rich NH clubs.
Lets hope he isn't playing ahead of someone like Seu who could potentially become an AB with regular starts.

Two All Blacks and key members of the Gallagher Chiefs, midfielder Anton Lienert-Brown and hooker Nathan Harris, have extended their contracts with New Zealand Rugby (NZR) and their Super Rugby team.

22-year-old Lienert-Brown, who played nine Tests last year in his debut season for the All Blacks, has signed a new deal through to 2020, with 25-year-old Harris re-signing on to 2019.

Lienert-Brown said he was delighted to be recommitting to his country and Super side.

"I'm hugely excited and grateful for the opportunity to re-sign with the Gallagher Chiefs and New Zealand Rugby until 2020. New Zealand Rugby, Waikato and the Gallagher Chiefs have played a huge part in developing me into the rugby player I am today. For that I'm very thankful, and look forward to furthering my development as a rugby player here in New Zealand."

Harris, who has played four Tests for the All Blacks and 24 games for the Chiefs, made an eagerly-awaited return to rugby last week after a long injury layoff.

"I'm really excited to continue my journey with the Gallagher Chiefs for the next two seasons. I've had the privilege to be a part of this team for the past four years and in that time I've overcome some significant injuries and also got to play alongside exceptional players. I'm really looking forward to being involved with the Chiefs going forward, under Colin Cooper, and to keep working to be the best person and player I can be," said Harris.

NZR General Manager Rugby Neil Sorensen said: "We're over the moon that both Anton and Nathan have re-signed with us. They are two players, along with others, that the future success of New Zealand Rugby will be built on. I've got to know both these guys, initially through the New Zealand Under 20 side, and it's been great to see them grow as players and people, and achieve success at the highest level."

Gallagher Chiefs head coach Dave Rennie said: "The contract extensions of both Anton and Nathan are great news for our Club. Anton is an impressive young man on and off the field. He made his debut as an 18 year old against the Bulls at Pretoria, highlighting his phenomenal work ethic, tackling and creative pass as strong features of his game.

"Nathan's game time in both the Chiefs and All Black jersey has been limited due to a couple of major injuries. His athleticism and skillset suits the modern day hooker's role and we are really proud of the work Nate continually does in our communities."

The Crusaders tried to lure ALB back home but he was loyal to the teams that gave him an opportunity.

I'm not sure if he has finished his studies but both ALB and DMac were on Hillary Scholarships at Waikato Uni as well. Part of the overall deal when they moved north.

In other Chiefs area news I see Baden Kerr is returning to CM for the NPC and TNW has signed back up as well.

@Crucial Both ALB and DMac are still attached to the University club but never play for them now. Moli is the same.

I'm not sure what the status of their studies is at present but I doubt they would be doing more than a paper each semester, if at all. Wayne Smith was instrumental in getting ALB to the Chiefs from a rugby perspective.

Dynamic utility back Tim Nanai-Williams and exciting forward Taleni Seu are the latest players to confirm their futures with the Gallagher Chiefs. Nanai-Williams, 27, has signed a one-year deal for 2018, while 23-year-old Seu has committed to the Chiefs for another two years through until 2019.

Taleni Seu is out for at least 6 weeks with an arm fracture. A pity for Seu as he would have started against the Lions, and has been excellent off the bench. I thought that Allardice played well against the Tahs so he will have 2 big games coming up.

Tim Bond (BOP) has been brought into the squad as cover.

Michael Leitch is now on international duty for Japan so won't be involved in the Canes and Lions games either.
