interestingly, from the table I posted above, the Brumbies have the 3rd worst attack (less than half the points the Crusaders or Hurricanes have scored) ahead of only Rebels and Force, yet are 3rd = on defence with Crusaders

@taniwharugby And the Tahs have the 5th worst defence in terms of points conceded.

Meanwhile Larkham is the Wallaby attack coach and Tahs defence coach Nathan Grey is the Wallaby defence coach.......

@taniwharugby Brumbies have 6 BPs for losing by less than 7 pts.

@taniwharugby Crusaders have played a game more than the Brumbies though (and the Chiefs and Canes for that matter).

On a PPG basis Crusaders are fractionally ahead of the Chiefs.

I'm hoping the Reds find a way to get into the top spot in the OZ conference. Not that they've had better results, but I can't stand watching the Brumbies play. The Reds at least have some quality that if they do throw caution to the wind, it's better viewing.

The other positive if the Reds make it is that the game will be in Brisvegas. It's more than likely the game will be against a NZ team, so the atmosphere would be pretty good rather than the dour-ness of Canberra stadium and crowd.

Travel factor is easier as well. Trouble with Canberra is that you either have to do a pain in the ass connecting flight that usually involves sitting around at the airport or the long bus ride down the Hume.
I'm sure they get much worse travel days, but still an easy direct flight is still better especially on return with a sore body.

Coming second in the NZ Conference is looking like a good option to aim for.

Well that helps the Canes but that's about it.

    @Stargazer

Sounds promising, although strange that there no mention of Coles' concussion issues

I guess when he talks "protocols" he talking about concussion but yeah he doesn't say that explicitly.
But it sounds like he's training with intensity and not suffering concussion symptoms so it's really good news.

Would be great to have them both back for a couple of games, probably for the Force and Chiefs games.

    Geldenhuys escapes further sanction

The SANZAAR Judicial Rules in Section 8 of the Tournament Manual state:6.1A Player who has received three yellow cards or three Warnings (or any combination thereof) arising from matches in the same Super Rugby Competition shall be required to appear before the Foul Play Review Committee appointed for the Match during which he last offended.

Geldenhuys was issued with no further sanction.Geldenhuys was awarded a Yellow Card in Rd 1, a Yellow Card in Rd 4 and a Yellow Card in Rd 12.The SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee of Nigel Hampton QC (Chairman), Stephen Hardy and Stefan Terblanche assessed the case.

    (...)

“With respect to sanction the Foul Play Review Committee deemed that no further sanction was appropriate due to the fact that both the second and the third yellow card offences were for technical offences, with the third card relating to repeated team infringements.”

“The Foul Play Review Committee cautioned the Player as to his repeat offending, but felt no further sanction needed to be applied in such circumstances. The Player is free to resume playing.”

Bulls lock Snyman suspended for four weeks. Three weeks more than Naholo completely justified IMO.

"With respect to sanction, the Foul Play Review Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks primarily due to the dangerous nature of the act and the direct contact with the opponent's head. However, taking into account mitigating factors including the player's good judicial record and early guilty plea, the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to four weeks."
