Battle: Los Angeles
Couldn't remember if I'd seen this before, so watched it again.
I thought it was pretty frigging good, actually. Quite gritty with the civilian deaths and such than crap like Independence Day, which just disposed of everyone in a big ball of fire.
Liked Aaron Eckhart as the troubled hero. There is a bunch of cliched bullshit in there of course, but mostly he's got enough talent to pull it off IMHO. The supporting guys are pretty good as well, including the dude playing the young Lieutenant.
3.5 out of 5 meteor showe- FUCK THOSE ARE ALIENS!

Conan the Barbarian - the Jason Momoa shitstorm
Fuck.
Fire the fight choreographer first. That was some utter shit.
I mean, you can accept that the dialogue isn't going to be great - and it would be a fucking travesty if it tried to out-do the original in this department anyway. But the fights MUST be good.
I was left with the feeling that they were trying to make a good version of the original, but decided "fuck it" halfway through to go for parody.
1.5^ plastic swords out of 5.
^ It gets plus 0.5 for occasional boobies.

I liked that, cliched as all hell but decent action scenes.

@canefan I watched Ford Fairlane again a few years back, and while its dated, I couldn't help but laugh.
The star of it has his own show , it's a bit hit and miss but he's not shy about mocking his five minutes of fame

George Lucas. That's just fucked how you nailed that bitch.
There are fuck all movies that don't date but this fucker doesn't.
Boozed by the way
You should check out the sequel, The Empire Strikes Back.
Don't want to give anything away but there's this twist that will blow your fucken mind.. -

Andrew Dice Clay? He does standup, he was to come to Auckland last year but cancelled. I guess there weren't enough people that appreciate his sense of humour
He had a recurrent guest role on Entourage where he played a fallen star standup comic. Funny -

Jackass the movie.
Strangely, despite watching the show, Id never seen the movie. Anyway, it was absolutely hilarious. Most of those guys are knobheads, but they did some outrageous funny shit. Some of it was sick though. The urine snow cone was utterly disgusting.
Will have to watch the other films.

Watched the Korean zombie movie, "Train to Busan" on Netflix over the weekend.
Very watchable and not your typical zombie movie of guns and gore. Some good comedic moments and some heart wrenching stuff too.
Quite the cult movie throughout asia apparently. Really enjoyed it as did the better half.
4 zombie train goers out of 5 walking dead

Alien: Covenant
Didnt mind it, not great but not disappointing the way Prometheus was.
Maybe it was watching it on the big screen that swayed my opinion of it, but i enjoyed it.
Still had issues, felt rushed, very predictable (thats not always a bad thing)
Overall you get the impression with these prequels that Scott doesnt really seem to have a solid plan to link them up to the original Alien Universe.
Still worth a watch, some great moments and without the completely stupid shit we saw with Prometheus.7 out of 10 (couldnt think what to use here without giving too much away)

Alexander - yeah the one with an Irish bloke trying to play a Greek.
15 mins into this movie and it's amazing just how shit it is. Oliver Stone really went all out with the cliches on this one. Unnecessary scenes, terrible writing and woeful acting. The first battle scene build-up is a blatant rip off of Braveheart.
Comparing Troy and Alexander is chalk and cheese(y).

I read an interview with Scott where he said there was a plan but the fans were impatient so he gave them what they wanted with this new one. Gave the impression that he has given up on whatever vision he had.
At least there weren't any midochlorians or Jar-Jars
