What always amazed me about Cornell was he barely opened his mouth but just powered out all this sound.

@jegga didn't know the background about that song, that's a pretty intense reaction though. Guess that was a bit of his intensity shinning through.

Cornell, Patton and Maynard James Keenan are my holy trinity in terms of vocalists for my generation. Luckily young Paekaks grew to realise that Keidis is a hell of a performer but ain't a top notch singer. But you wanna talk about a premier sing-rapping funk mofo then he's your man.

Patton probably even better if I'm being honest but he seems to have lost it lately.

For whatever reason this is my favourite Soundgarden song by far.

He had a very nasty divorce of his own too . Looking forward to revisiting all the tracks that will be posted on this thread , going to be some flashbacks to road trips/surf trips over the next week I hope.

    Well that was superb .

hopefully while he had a minute in Deaths company he pointed out that Gary Glitter is still alive and Death might get some good PR for a change.

@Siam one of the dumbest reviews I have ever read was on that song. Said reviewer trashed the cover because he made it different to the original. Apparently by removing the dancy bass line he ruined the song.

Emotion? Pah, the fuck is that?

    @mariner4life
All the reasons that make the song so great!
I remember hearing it in Asia a few times somewhere over a couple of weeks and it took a few listens to twig what the original actually was.
Then I remember thinking "fuck that's cool. Who's the genius that came up with that?"

    Fuuuuuck thiiiis

    Eat a dick death

This might be worse than Bowie

    Generational thing though.

I get that for you guys he was part of the soundtrack to your lives and without wanting to denigrate that legacy I'm just pointing out that he doesn't even register on mine. Had to even work out who he was.
Sad for any musician to go, especially when they 'represent' a generation so it is shit news.
I just wouldn't make comparisons with others except on a personal level (which is what I assume M4L is doing)

What a shock! I finally saw Soundgarden a few years back and Cornell's voice was still stellar. Faith No More was on the same bill. His solo acoustic tour of NZ a few years ago was meant to be great too.

I know what I'll be playing tomorrow.

Best post-work wind down after a shitty day is #1 Zero - slow, menacing verses followed by a fucking massive middle section, with brilliant guitar from Morello. Back to post-orgasmic slumber prep at the end

52yo. He looked a lot younger than that. He had a full head of hair and everything. Offed himself, reports indicate. With a full head of hair. And everything.
