@Stargazer be pretty shit if a team yellow, which contributed to a RC also resulted in a ban.

Good to see some good sense...

Chiefs midfielder Charlie Ngatai is again symptom free from concussion but is unlikely to play against the Blues at Eden Park on Friday.

Rennie also said that former All Blacks first-five Donald, who replaced McNicol in the midfield at Suva's ANZ Stadium, was unlikely to play against the Blues.

        Three-week ban for Treeby

        http://www.planetrugby.com/news/three-week-ban-for-treeby/

Stormers centre Shaun Treeby has been suspended for three weeks after pleading guilty to contravening Law 10.4(e) Dangerous tackling.

        (...)

In his finding, Foul Play Review Committee Chairman Nigel Hampton QC ruled the following: “Having conducted a detailed review of all the available evidence, including all camera angles and additional evidence, as well as an explanation from the player and submissions from his legal representative, Thembelani Mayosi, the Foul Play Review Committee upheld the citing under Law 10.4(e).”

“With respect to sanction the Foul Play Review Committee deemed the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of six weeks. However, taking into account mitigating factors including the Player’s excellent Judicial record over a long professional career and his early guilty plea the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to three weeks.”

“The player is therefore suspended for three weeks, up to and including the Saturday 10 June 2017.”

Would love to hear from Paddy how two of his refs stopped the game reviewed the video, had an unconscious player on the ground in front of them and still missed a 'mid entry point' Red Card. Baffling.

Why on earth do they persist with using Veldsman and Ayoub, two on the shittest on field refs ever at pro level, to continue their poor decision making and prove over and over just how bad their judgement is from the TMO box?

I don't like to criticise referees for making mistakes at full speed but in this case the TMO/referee had multiple views at slow speed to make his decision. There's no excuse for not giving a card for that Treeby incident. I haven't actually seen the decision making process, but it's clear from the outcome that there was a breakdown in the process.

It looked like the Blues might also have avoided a card for the Ofa tackle.

The last try looked horrendous as well. Not just a holding on/"double movement" against the ball carrier, but the try scorer had both knees on the ground when he picked it up.

I really think there should be consequences for these cock ups.

There is. You get to ref at the world cup.

It's not the consequence you want, but it's the way World Rugby rolls, baby.

I think there are, we just never get to hear about them because they are viewed as an employment matter rather than being a transparent process.
We all understand that mistakes get made and people have horror days (players and refs) but I can never understand why they seem to think that keeping quiet does anything except erode confidence.
The best on field refs are often the ones who are open about their decisions and errors rather than being belligerent. Same should be the case off field.

@Crucial what is also frustrating, is the fact that he wasn't punished on-field (as in 35mins on the sidelines) which could well have affected the outcome of a game, yet he still gets a big 'discount'

Ihaia West is off contract at the Blues after this year and must decide whether to continue to fight for the No10 jersey in Auckland, or perhaps seek pastures new and replace Black as Beauden Barrett's back-up at the Hurricanes.

@Tim I think he'd probably suit the Canes where there tends to be a lot of other playmakers in the backline. Plus Perenara.

@taniwharugby yeah most likely eh, although Black has had a few starts this year hasn't he? Plus Barrett will probably get a decent rest to start the season next year too.
