Southland and Justified started their new seasons today, for those who get their TV over the web. Just finished Southland, was bloody great. Justified up next.

And with very shody writing and stupid situations. Hurley also looks like he ate the rest of the cast of Lost.
Just finished watching the last episode of series one of The Inbetweeners. This series is hilarious so far. I have resisted watching it so far as I think that a lot of English comedy is overrated (for it's apparent 'cool' factor against US comedy), but this one lives up to the hype!
<br />
Just watched all three series of The Inbetweeners in a row (not hard to do with only 18 episodes). Loved it.

I would assume the series is much better than the movie, which was amusing, but nothing great.

Yeah, I saw the movie and it hasn't inspired me to watch the series. Was like a juvenile version of Benidorm, which I actually enjoy but it wouldn't hurt if I missed an episode.<br />
<br />
Glad that his thread has pointed me to watching The Wire though. Not sure what happened that I missed this when it first came around but I can add my opinion to the many that voice that this must be some of the best TV ever made. Brilliant show.

TBH, the movie is better if you've seen the series as you've invested a lot of time in the characters - it would be a bit odd going in cold as there are lots of references to stuff from the series.<br />
<br />
Crucial: Pretty much everyone in NZ missed The Wire when it first came round - it used to air at 11:30pm on a Tuesday or Thursday night. I remember watching an episode and thinking WTF??? Then I watched it form the start on DVD and yep, awesome. I expect most people over here would have seen it on DVD?

Pretend that the Wire ended after 4 seasons. They were great; season 5 was horrible.

Thanks for the heads up taniwharugby. Been enjoying series 2 even though there has been less Boyd in it so far. The new dope queen hillbilly character is great though <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I like the 5th season - I liked the newspaper part of it (found it quite interesting) and I read up about the serial killer stuff that happened in real life so wasn't too worried about it. Lots of people disliked S2 due to the change in focus but I really liked that one as well.

The Wire is even better if you are from/familiar with Baltimore. So much rings true, the shooting locations are spot on, and a huge number of the characters are based on and quite similar to their real life inspirations. I used to drive through/around where they were shooting in the East Baltimore hood often when I was at grad school at Johns Hopkins.

Wow TR, I thought for sure you would have seen The Wire. You lucky bastard getting to see it for the first time. Although I find it weird that you're going to watch it in a lean period between Game of Thrones. That's like saying you'll watch the ABs in the lean period between the S15s <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />.<br />
<br />
Rusty: How could The Wire be any better? It's not possible!

TR, if you want to get through until April you'll need more than just series 1. I'm doing about an Ep a day at the moment. It's that good.

oh I am sure I'll get through a bit more than 1 series, and my point about a lean period Nepia, is that the next good series that is due out, is Game of Thrones, therefore I am looking for stuff to watch between now and then, is nothing to do with the quality of either show!

All good, but I think my analogy still stands! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> Although for me Game of Thrones is probably the NPC rather than SupeRugby (to anyone thinking I'm putting down Game of Thrones you're 100% incorrect, I'm putting down SupeRugby.

I should damn well hope so, for me, Super Rugby is like Shortland Street...you watch it cos it happens to be on TV while you are sitting in the lounge, and then you pretend you dont <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />
<br />
For me, GOT and Breaking Bad are the pinnacle at present.
