I have it but haven't watched it yet, as it just looks so grim. A couple of friends watched it and said it was good.<br />

Speaking of grim, a good friend of mine recommends this:<br />

Grey; Liam Neeson<br />
<br />
Set in Alaska with Neeson as a specialist who kills wolves for an Oil Company to keep the employees safe. They have plane crash in the middle of nowhere in arctic conditions, and find they are being hunted by a pack of wolves, of which, the Alpha male takes on almost mythical proportions.<br />
<br />
Had some good parts to it, but other parts were so annoyingly unreal (I mean Bear Grylls woulda died) it, well annoyed me.<br />
<br />
As to the ending...
I hate it when they do shit like that...the alpha male comes at him, he gets ready to take it on, and, it finishes!
Watched Machine Gun Preacher; Not one of those movies you say is great or anything due to the subject and harsh realities it portrays, but still a 'good' film. Based on the life of Sam Childers, a low life scum who found god and then went to North Uganda and then Southern Sudan on a Mission to help all the war affected children.

Watched a movie called "Contagion" on the weekend. About a virus outbreak that goes worldwide and kills a lot of people (we are told). Stars Matt Damon, and every second actor in Hollywood. Billed as a thriller, but it's really not, its moves along pretty slowly (aside from the fact that people start dying inside the first 5 mins) and then ends. Focuses mostly on the Americans at the Centre for Disease Control trying to save the world (as usual), and the slow break down of society (ish). All in all not much happens really. It's ok, but far from a must-see.
Just watched this yesterday - it was billed as a blockbuster wasn't it? I would definitely recommend not wasting your time. Highly disappointing and fucking boring, moved very slowly and absolutely nothing in it caught my attention. And I liked Vanilla Sky.

Contagion was a pretty good movie. An interesting and mostly sober take on the subject matter.

Compared to Outbreak, it is Citizen Kane.

I finally got around to viewing (on DVD) "Exit Through the Gift Shop (The Banksy Film)," which was nominated for an Oscar documentary last year. Having seen a short BBC News doc about the film last year, I thought I had a good idea what it was going to be about, but I was only about 1/3rd correct, which was a nice surprise. It's hard to know what it is - a documentary, a mockumentary, a comedy, or an Emperor Wears No Clothes hoax? What it was, was utterly entertaining, quite unlike anything I've ever seen before and kinda educational.<br />

In Shark Alley, courage runs deep.<br />
<br />
Kate (Halle Berry) is a shark expert whose business has been failing since a shark attack killed a fellow diver under her command. Once dubbed "the shark whisperer," Kate is haunted by the memory of the attack and unable to get back into the water. With bills piling up and the bank about to foreclose on Kate's boat, Kate's ex-boyfriend Jeff (Olivier Martinez) presents her with a lucrative opportunity: lead a thrill-seeking millionaire businessman on a dangerous shark dive...outside the cage. Battling her self-doubts and fear, Kate accepts the proposal -- and sets a course for the world's deadliest feeding ground: Shark Alley.
<br />

Saw "John Carter" last night (in 3D of course) and loved it. It's just a fun, bullshit fantasy movie and i was highly entertained. The main chick is hot as fuck.

She may be hot as fuck but Disney is expected to lose more than $200 million on this flop of a film so might be the last time you see her alive.

oh ho ho really? jesus! it sure looked expensive to make, there was f*ck all marketing, and then it opened. Compare to things like "The Avengers" and "Prometheus" which have had massive campaigns long before opening. I watched it in the VMax last night and there would have been maybe 10 other people there.<br />
<br />
Also Lynn Collins was in "True Blood" and got her tits out (thank you google images) and therefore will always be able to get work.

Thats just Disney bullshit - they may lose money within the US, but they are making decent money internationally.<br />
<br />
The cost of the movie was $250 million - already the worldwide takings are at $180 million (http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=johncarterofmars.htm) and it was the highest grossing overseas movie last weekend (http://boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=3397&p=s.htm). It has only just opened in some countries, so can expect to still make a decent amount more.

I'll be paying to see it. I read all the John Carter: Warlord of Mars books as a kid and used to wish someone could turn them into a movie. It took a long time for SFX to catch up to my imagination

It looks like they are reducing the sessions for John Carter, so try to see it in the next week.<br />
<br />
As I can't see 3D I checked when the 2D sessions are on at my local cinema (St Lukes) and they only show 7:30pm tonight, and 11:00am on Sunday morning.
