@canefan That's just silly. But at least this gives us a good reality check two years out.

@Crash Yeah, I still think England are stronger than the Lions. Ireland are bloody good and Wales have the talent to compete against the best as well. At the present time, it's fair to say that the power base has shifted slightly to the North.

Nowe that I'm sober, Poite should be held to account for this.

I missed the exchange live. Thanks for posting.

      That's atrocious officiating.

the fact that the NH teams always talk about the 'aura' and 'mystique' just means there is one, in thier minds anyway.

The aura and mystique had it's genesis in a 70% record.

        We've been going at 90%.

        How come we've list aura?

No it's not. Accidental offside is a scrum. Occurs when a ball is propelled into an offside player who doesn't play at it.

Owens moved his arm to catch it. Reflex action but he played at it. If he just let it hit him without moving to catch it it is accidental offside.

Marshall, surprisingly, was wrong in commentary.

If people can't see Owens played at the ball, they should get a seeing eye dog.

He clearly let Warburton influence him at the last second. I think it was agreed by the TMO and Poite that the penalty was going to stand during their discussion.

So we won game 1 in a canter, we got a man sent off early in the 2nd game and still created enough pen chances to win the game anyway, and mistakes cost us a game 3 win that was there for the taking with the Lions barely hanging on at times. If you are talking about the quality of the Oz and Saffa teams they are letting the SH down. But we are still right up there at the summit

Oh yes absolutely (which makes it 'offside' not 'accidental offside')

@canefan I'm referring to NH v SH. We are still no 1, but not as far ahead of the NH teams as we probably thought.

@akan004 problem is we rarely get to see NH v SH teams 'at thier prime' facing one another, except at RWC's, is always difficult to get a good read on where each is at, whether we are as far ahead as some like to think or behind as much as some like to think.

We were poor, but you add BFA, SBW, Crotty, Naholo, Ioane, Coles and we are much better, especially in the areas we have been poor the past few weeks.

I guess the only good thing to come of BFA being out was we got to see JB is up to standard.

@taniwharugby Yeah, agreed. But we have to also factor in that the NH players are shattered at the end of their 10 month long season, and are not at their best either.

I think the unhappiest person last night would have been Michael Cheika. I would expect the ABs to be really switched on in Sydney next month and hopefully we will have all of our injured players back too.

Now that I think about it both teams were a bit shit.

Lions had a burl didnt look really likely at all and fucked up plenty, wonky lineouts, knock ons etc.

And NZ with too many fuckups to capitalise. If that performance was trundled out by the 2015 vintage there'd be calls for heads to roll.

Some of it has to be on the captain. Fuck the ref, he was always goign to be suspect and shouldve been removed from computations well before the 79th minute. Yes, there's some newbie 2nd stringers in there but the blue heads of yesteryear seem to have gone a bit red headed stepsister. Shouldve been enough caps in that AB pack to find away after all the Lions flubs.

Hansen seems quite content with a draw. In fact, the whole coaching staff seem like a very cosy and content little cabal of tenured ivory towered professors. And who's next? Preordained. Yes, it's tonights fucking AB attack coach! Ian fucking Foster. He's Shag's mate! Fuck this, now I'm getting annoyed. Where's the accountability?

I unserstood very little about this, but fuck it needs to be posted again.

                                I still need to have relaxing music on to write this as the end was very unsatisfying;

You just have to admire the Lions, going from a 'divided scrap team' to drawing a series with the All Blacks, is something you only get the chance to see every 12 years. We got to see that shit. Was a blast for a couple of weeks.

The Lions had a defence that was second to none, they were like rabid dogs from game to game, something the AB's were not exactly used to.
And what was the more important thing, they just refused to drop off. We can talk about the refs, the cards the everything, but in the end the Wallabies would still have lost this series 100-0, whereas the lions dug very deep to draw it and that is a win for rugby.

Now I am not the leading analyst, but in the end I see very little between those two teams, and I just can't be mad about a draw. None of those 46 players deserve to walk out of this as a 'Lions series loser'.

Do people really think it was the game plan's fault we did not win last night? It seems obvious to me that the problem was in our execution. We conceded 22 turnovers. You don't win many games conceding that much ball. I judge a coach on a game plan. It's the responsibility of the players to execute that game plan. That did not do that so this loss is on them.

He's got to share the blame as well. Playing so flat was high risk. Seems okay at training runs, but a rushing Lions defence, I don't know. Could explain the high turnover rate as well.

Read still has alot to learn about managing the ref.

The most he seemed to query was the 'tackle in the air' and the 'accidental not off side' calls.

Ref kept telling the Lions to hurry up at lineout time yet failed to give a free kick, I do wonder if Sexton going down was a ploy too. Ref gets him off for a HIA ffs!

Lions did a superb job of slowing the game down and the ref allowed them to do so, especially when we needed to keep it going to keep them under high tempo pressure, like his counterpart (who along with the rest of his team was at the ref often) Read must do better with the ref, similarly last week with the run of penalties he should have calling for a YC.

Do people really think it was the game plan's fault we did not win last night? It seems obvious to me that the problem was in our execution. The short passes as players were about to get tackled just didn't work last night

@taniwharugby Yeah, agreed. But we have to also factor in that the NH players are shattered at the end of their 10 month long season, and are not at their best either.

I think the unhappiest person last night would have been Michael Cheika. I would expect the ABs to be really switched on in Sydney next month and hopefully we will have all of our injured players back too.

thats what I meant, we go on our EOYT at the end of our season too...so neither is in ideal form at the right time, aside form the RWC when seasons are geared toward it.

Reckon the ABs could tour and play the Lions in the UK 🙂

Stats back up there was fuck all in it!

I'd say from that, our tackle %, defenders beaten and clean breaks are biggest issues
